Hi there,

I had the mirena coil removed in February (last week of) after having it in for approx 18 months and I had some spotting for approx 5 days there after. It was very mild brown spotting and then around 3 weeks later I had what I considered a very very heavy period. It was so heavy that I was having to change tampons and pads every hour (tmi I'm sorry!) but since then I've had nothing, I've waited for the same date and it's come and gone. I'm just wondering if anyone else experienced this? And is this normal typical behaviour after having the mirena coil removed?

This happened to me OP - just looking through my period app here:

Had coil in for about 20 months
Got coil out on the 2nd Oct
One week later (9th) what I thought was my period arrived - very very light, lasted for 6 days
disappeared for 3 days and returned on the 20th Oct - 29th and was extremely heavy.

Disappeared for almost 5 weeks - which was really frustrating as I had got it taken out to TTC.
I did ask my GP about it and she said this was normal, it can take a few months for cycle to return to normal

Cycle did indeed return to normal after that. (from just before Christmas)

The first date of my last period was the 18th Jan and I'm now 18 weeks pregnant
