Hi all, 39 weeks tomorrow and for past week at least I get strong braxton hicks when I go to bed combined with mild period aches (mainly in back although a little in tummy last night).
Period cramps at night are how my labour started with DC1 so like a loon each night I think it is starting Hmm
Any tips or idea of how long this will go on? I think I have dropped, no plug or show though. Am enormous. DC1 labour started on due date...

Hi OP I am afraid to say mine went I for a couple of weeks then stopped for a couple of days before each time with dc2 and dc3. Hope its not the same for you! I had dc2 at 40 +1 and dv3 at 41 weeks. It was a tedious last few weeks thinking is this it. No.

Thanks @Ricstar i think I need to get over it as had midwife today who rather too happily told me baby wasn't even engaged. Sigh.

Second babies rarely engage ahead though. But yes you have to try and stop symptom spotting and know that your baby will be here soon if may be not right away.

Snap. 40 weeks tomorrow and 2 weeks of on and off contractions and still no sign of baby.

Sorry, hit post too soon.

This is my second though and first was a week late so I've expected this one to be at least a few days late too....

First time round I didn't have any signs or twinges at all so it's very different for me this time!

@DoingItForTheKids thanks for reply. So frustrating symptom spotting! I think I need to resign myself for a wait (in theory!) What has your midwife said? Will they give you a sweep?

I remember it driving me crazy last time analysing every twinge or different feeling. Pregnancy could definitely do with being more predictable for our own sanity!

I saw a random midwife last time and she didn't mention sweeps but I declined all sweeps last time and probably will this time. I just feel like baby will come when it's ready and sweeps only work if your body was getting ready anyway. That's just me though.

I grow big babies so have had extra scans at 36 and 39 weeks and will have another one at 41 weeks if this one isn't here yet so am lucky in that I've had those extra looks at baby to see it's ok in there.
