I was ordering some nursing bras last night and as soon as I paid I realised I’d ordered my current cup size, and not larger to accommodate boob growth. Then it struck me that my boobs haven’t grown at all, and I’m almost 34 weeks. I had aching and change of colour in the first trimester, but nothing else. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I still expect them to grow when/if milk comes in?

My breasts didn't change size at all throughout both of my pregnancies. When my milk came in after the birth of my first, my boobs were MASSIVE. It was truly unbelievable. They settled down after 2 weeks or so, and after my second baby, they didn't get that much larger than normal at all. Every woman is different and every pregnancy is different.

Mine were the same but they got huge when my milk came in! A friend said your milk coming in was really painful but I got lucky and didn’t feel a thing. The first thing a knew about it was when I looked down and said “woah!!!” They remained fairly large after that and never went back to pre-pregnancy size. Pregnant again now (20 weeks) and they still haven’t grown much.

I’ve had no boob growth in 4 pregnancies, with a very very slight change after (not enough to go up a bra size) and have fed successfully each time.

Breast milk production is promoted by the removal of the placenta as well as baby trying to feed. Milk normally comes in 3 days after birth before that your body produces colostrum which is a thicker more concentrated version of breast milk.

I would advise getting the soft stretchy nursing bras to see you through the first 3 weeks after baby is born. My boobs got huge afterbirth and then settled down a bit. I bought my proper nursing bras at 4 weeks post partum and they still fit now.

Im a B cup and my boobs didnt grow at all through both pregnancies until after when my milk came in, i went to a D cup then they settled down to a C cup when i had established breast feeding.

My boobs didn't grow until my milk came in. Even then they were only slightly bigger and returned back to normal size as soon as my supply regulated itself. I found stretchy sports bra handy for the first few weeks breastfeeding

Another one to say my boobs didn't grown during pregnancy. my back did so I went up a bra back size. My boobsthe n went up 2 cup sizes by the time baby was about 8 weeks and have pretty much stayed there over a year later.

I agree with previous posters - my boobs hardly grew at all during pregnancy. I'm usually an A or B cup but when I went to get a nursing bra when baby was 1 week old, i was a DD/E cup!

Pomfluff · 23/05/2019 22:12

Haha yes, I felt cheated when my boobs didn't grow at all during pregnancy. Shortly before birth I went to buy nursing bras and was annoyed that they didn't make any in an A cup. Little did I know once your milk comes in even the smallest boobs will explode to C-D size. Especially the first 4-6 weeks when your milk supply is adjusting, the size is bonkers. Now at 5 months they've gone down to a B-C cup which is my "dream boob" size...wish I could keep these forever :P!

bearface45 · 23/05/2019 22:23

Yes this happened in my first pregnancy, didn’t change at all until my milk came in and they blew up like balloons! This time they have grown a bit and I get the pains in them like I did when I was nursing, not sure if this is because it’s second baby and I’ve breastfed before. Not like we can enjoy them when bigger anyway they’re sore and hard!

azulmariposa · 23/05/2019 22:35

My boobs got massive. Went from a d to ff, never went down.
My milk never came in, so they just grew while I was pregnant

DeadDoorpost · 23/05/2019 22:44

My boobs didn't grow during pregnancy and didn't leak at all. Milk then came in and I went up at least 2 cup sizes. Since I stopped breastfeeding they've deflated a little but not much. But then, I'm due DD in September so they'll be back.

Another advocate for the stretchy bras. Anything with wires is way too uncomfortable. Still prefer soft bras now.

My boobs didn't grow in pregnancy and didn't grow when i was breastfeeding either ^^ i'm pregnant again now and they still haven't grown.

Nogodsnomasters · 24/05/2019 10:22

I'd say mine only went up half a cup size during pregnancy so I didn't bother changing bra size (and I genuinely think it was just fat anyway as I went from 9st to 12st 12lbs - the shame haha) but once my milk came in and I was breastfeeding I went up 2 full cup sizes! Since I stopped breastfeeding I am now a cup smaller than pre pregnancy, they really shrink down!

Rememberallball · 24/05/2019 10:30

Had already gone from an F/G (depending on brand of bra) to an HH by 17 weeks pregnant. Now 21 weeks and they’ve not changed much more - am really hoping they don’t go up much more or I’ll struggle to find bras that fit me!!

Angelinthenightx · 24/05/2019 11:50

Im a b cup & near the end i go upto a c its happend with every pregnancy, mine just tend to go full & firm than get bigger until the end /give birth. Im 16wks & still fit in all my bra's x
