Just want to check everything since having spotting and cramping last week

Thanks in advance

No one?

Has anyone paid to have an early pregnancy scan at least?

I didn't know it was possible before 12 weeks so excited and nervous.

I've had no confirmation of pregnancy other than my own home pregnancy tests!

Hi there

I had a gender scan there and it was fine got some nice pictures and a DVD

I had an early scan for medical reasons in one of my pregnancies.

I could see something which looked like a flickering grain of rice. But I've heard that at 7 weeks, you do not necessarily see a heartbeat

We did an early scan at 6+6, because we got a positive test at 3+5 and I was too impatient to wait until 12 weeks for our scan.

We did see more than we expected, although baby was a tiny little dot and we saw the heartbeat clearly.

We are also planning to do a 4d scan later on in the pregnancy

I had a viability scan at 6+6 because it’s an IVF pregnancy and was requested by my consultant. All was well and revealed our twins.
I know of people who had early s cans for reassurance and still went on to have bad news at their 12 week scan so it’s no guarantee things will remain ok.

Regarding the spotting and cramping last week, did you speak to your GP or the midwife about being referred to the EPU for reassurance checks at the time?

Hi lynwen84,

I went for a scan at 8 weeks, like you, for reassurance, but in my case because my symptoms had all disappeared. I got to see the heart beating, which made it seem much more real than just the pregnancy test and really helped me feel a bit less anxious waiting for the 12 week scan.

I'm Birmingham based too, went to Window to the Womb, the staff there were lovely, I'm sure peek a baby will be the same.

Posters on other threads have warned that, once you've had the scan, it can be really tempting to go for another! I've managed to resist, and am now 18 weeks, and starting to feel movement, but up until now I've kept wondering what's going on in there!

Hope the scan goes well :)

I have early scans from 6 weeks due to a history of ectopic and recurrent miscarriages - just be aware that even if you are slightly off with your dates you can measure behind and that can stress people out more than necessary
You should be able to see a heartbeat at 7 weeks though 🤞
