Also like Libby. I've got a good friend called Libby, short for Elizabeth.

Love Lara. Great suggestion.

We toyed with Ailsa if ds have been a girl

claraq · 20/07/2007 14:49

Imogen is lovely but we think it's becoming a little too popular now?
I really really like Robyn, it is my niece's name (she is 3) and I don't know any others but it is such a pretty name.
Am glad someone else suggested Mimi as a possibility - my DD has called her doll Mimi for some reason and I think its quite a nice name. But was slightly put off by someone saying it is what they or their friend call their "women's bits"!
What about Megan? We like it but not sure if it is too common???
Sophie and Jessica but extremely popular now. I would avoid flowery names as also v common.

don't like sophie, lucie or jessie as a name but would call jessica and use jessie as a nickname.

like all the others.

homemama · 20/07/2007 15:19

I think Libby is often short for Elizabeth. We have an Elizabeth though we call her Lizzie.

At the moment I like,
Lexie
Rosalyn
Jocelyn
Adrienne
Dorothea
Ellen

Though Isla is very pretty too!

homemama · 20/07/2007 15:23

Meant to add that Imogen is lovely. I'd stay away from names like Sophie, Jessica and Emily if you want something that's less common. Although this year I taught a Jessica, known as Jess, which sounded nice. She is a lovely girl too!

Tinkjon · 20/07/2007 15:33

I'd disagree about Imogen being too popular - people may individually know a few, but it was only No.48 in last year's Top 100 baby names so I bet there won't be that many around... I think it's a beautiful name - one of many that DH has vetoed Sophie & Jessica are definitely very popular indeed - the official Top 100 are here if that's of any help to you in avoiding popular names:

Clara
Romy
Eloise
Betsy (or is that too retro?)

I like Hatrick's list of names so much I almost want to change DD's... almost

emj23 · 20/07/2007 16:00

Oh bum. Just looked at the name statistics chart link, I didn't know the name we'd chosen for this baby was that popular. I only know one person who's used the name so I had assumed it wasn't that common

TheDuchessOfFawkesBride · 20/07/2007 16:06

I know lots of Sophies and Jessicas. Lucy with a Y is v. popular at the moment.

I like Libby and Imogen a lot. Summer is nice but a bit modern for me.

Would also throw in the very girly... Anna, Amelia, Susannah or Suzie, Tabitha or Yasmin.

Hopeitwontbebig · 20/07/2007 16:08

I like Imogen, Tamsin and Caitlin, but DH doesn't.

DH likes Evelyn and Niamh

puppydavies · 20/07/2007 16:31

hayley2u how does soren sound as a middle name?

MrsScavo · 20/07/2007 18:35

As in Soren Laurenson?

treacletart · 20/07/2007 18:39

We're expecting a girl in the next few weeks and Imogen is still top of our list - I think it's great - elegant without being fussy or over girly - it also works very well with our single syllable surname. If we do go for it I'll probably try to use Mimi as a pet name because I'm not keen at all on Immy or Imo. Elizabeth was my other favourite.

HorribleHorace · 20/07/2007 18:47

from your list, I like Libby and Summer best.

All the others are nice. Lots of Jessica/Sophie/Lucy's around atm though.

jo25 · 20/07/2007 18:49

I like Imogen and summer from your list, but i also like Isla and Esme. when we were expecting our potential girls list was

Raine,
Talia,
Jessica,
Daisy.

Or how about florence? i think its really pretty. Good luck.

ivykaty44 · 20/07/2007 20:41

Bessie
Ramona

two names I like that aren't in the top 100
