Hi can anyone give me some advice. I went to the hospital last week due to loss of symptoms (Breast tenderness & nausea) I believed I was 6w 3days at this point.
I had an internal scan and there was an empty gestational sac, the nurse said that she thinks it may have been too early to see anything.
they checked my HCG and they were 1900 , I went back 48 hours later and my HCG was 1900 again then back again another 48 hours later and my HCG was 2200.
I was told by x2 doctors the baby had died and the pregnancy was not viable under any circumstances.
I was devastated as we'd tried for 2 years and it was a much wanted baby.
I went back today for another internal scan (a week later than my first) to rule out an etopic & the radiologist turned the screen around and said here's your baby, I nearly collapsed.
The lady said that she believed my dates were ever and explained that there was now a yoke sac & a fetal pole and everything looked as it should for 6 weeks. No heartbeat yet but she wasn't concerned about this.
I told the radiologist that I'd been told that there was no way my pregnancy was viable by x2 doctors and she said not to rely on the HCG they can be irrelevant and the US is more of a reliable source. I was told by another clinician today that some women's HCG dont rise and they go onto
Have a normal healthy pregnancy but there is a chance that the pregnancy will fail.
Can anyone help does anyone have any knowledge of this that they can share ! My head has fell off completely I can't believe it I had accepted that there was no hope - thanks in advance

I do not have much knowledge on this, but I have read there is a wide variation of the HCG hormone. So they never use the HCG to date the pregnancy and always use ultrasounds. Same for the fact that twins can not be detected by looking at the HCG levels. I wonder if this is the reason why someone suffer worse for morning sickness as well...higher HCG maybe worse morning sickness? Anyway, good luck!

Hcg increases vary and are in most cases inaccurate for discussions on viability. that’s why most UK IVF clinics don’t both with blood tests and instead go straight for a viability scan.

Ahh unfortunately I lost the baby about 2 weeks after posting this , I miscarried at home.

I hope you have a happier outcome.
It broke me this miscarriage it was horrendous but luckily I became pregnant 2 months later and I now have a beautiful 3 year old boy and even though I had another two miscarriages i also have a 9 month baby girl ! So it was worth all the heartbreak. Good luck hun xx
