Recommended maternity jeans

I bought some over bump jeans from mamalicious (also tried Seraphine but too tight in the legs) but they fall down without a belt. It’s not the band part but the denim. I’m forever having pull them up.

Any suggestions for a better brand. Maternity stuff is so pricey I was hoping to make do with one pair (also a summer pregnancy so will mostly wear dresses) but they aren’t ideal.

I had thought of dungarees but the options seem limited.

might be worth trying jeggings OP, they have an elastic waist so should stay up. as for dungarees try here. all the best xx

I spent loads of isabella Oliver under the bump ones and they also have the same problem. I've decided it's just mat jeans, they don't stay up. Get leggings instead or dresses that you can wear without or without tights for changing seasons. It's a pain

I found H&M MAMA over the bump skinnies the best by far, really soft denim and keep their shape well, I have black and navy for work and denim for weekend

gothicsprout · 21/05/2019 18:20

How many weeks are you? Assuming they’re over the bump style you may find they fit better later on. Afraid I don’t have any suggestions for other brands as Mamalicious fit me best, but there was a definite window where I had to either wear a belt or fold over the waistband with them, as I was too big for normal jeans but not bump-y enough to hold up the band yet.

I absolutely love these jeans from Jojo Maman Bebe. They are lovely and stay up plus I don’t find they sag across my crotch which I have found with other brands. They are also looser in the legs than other brands including some other styles from Jojo.

Jojo maman bebe super skinny are a great fit for me, would recommend going a size down. I was a 10 pre-pregnancy and their 8 fits me well.

Topshop under bump were a winner for me.

Hyggemama · 21/05/2019 18:36

I really love my vertbaudet skinny maternity jeans. They have an over bump band but also elastic and buttons underneath the bump which you can tighten, a bit like some kids trousers do.

Another for H&M

user1493413286 · 21/05/2019 18:38

H&M were my favourite; not cheap but worth it for how much I wore them. I also wore them for weeks after as they didn’t press on my scar

WMPAGL · 21/05/2019 18:41

Just here to commiserate. I've tried lots of brands (via eBay!) and found the same for all of them to some extent.

Weirdly the only trousers I've found that are really comfortable, don't squeeze, and stay up are some standard Sweaty Betty cropped ones I've had sitting in a drawer for years.

Not the most attractive things but I'm past caring!

Think I'm just oddly shaped!

SurreyisSunny · 21/05/2019 18:51

Yes wondering if I’m oddly shaped too! I’m early on at the mo (17 weeks) but gave up with my normal jeans a couple weeks ago.

I never understood why pregnant women wore leggings. I now understand!

Another vote for Topshop under bump here. Would never fit in Topshop jeans normally (haven't shopped there for years!) but had a couple of pairs on my first pregnancy and despite trying other places this time round I went back and got another couple of pairs this time. Free returns too which is nice so you can try as many as you want!

Hairwizard · 21/05/2019 22:33

Ive yet to find a pair this tine that stags up. I bought a pair of the topshop joni over bump ones, cos i have the standard joni ones and they are fab but the maternity ones are shit. Wont stay up.😡
Last time around i bought the h&m ones and they were brilliant, just havent been able to find them this time.
And i fucking hate that all the shops bar h&m dont stock maternity clothes instore. I like to try stuff on, cant be arsed or afford to order multiple sizes to send back.

DuggeesWoggle · 21/05/2019 22:40

I wish I could join in the raving about h&m. I treated myself to 2 pairs, one denim, one black. Both felt amazing in the changing room. 10 minutes walking toward work and I was hitching them and have been ever since. I'm 24 weeks with number 2 and my bump has just exploded. Still hitching the bloody jeans up. Their leggings are ok though, might get some more of those.

TokenGinger · 21/05/2019 22:43

I really wanted to love the H&M Mama range as they're a perfect fit, however, they have buttons in where you'd normally zip/button your jeans and they just dug in to me so much.

The best jeans I've found are Matalan over the bump jeans. They're £20 a pair. I bought a black pair and a blue pair. I'm 37 weeks now and about 4 weeks ago, I had to buy a size up but I only got one pair and just keep re-washing.

TokenGinger · 21/05/2019 22:45

Ps I cannot tolerate maternity leggings. My legs have excess fat on them at the top since around 25w and leggings just show everything.

The nice thing with the Matalan ones is, the denim is still soft so doesn't stick in to your tummy or pelvis area.
