Anterior placenta

Hey ladies 😊
So I was told at my last scan that I have an anterior placenta. I’m currently 19 weeks 5 days and haven’t felt any kind of movement ☹️ It’s really disheartening as my close friend is also pregnant and she has started to feel some light kicks at 18 weeks. This is my first baby and I’m dying to feel her move it’s starting to worry me. Any other ladies also have an anterior placenta and when did you start to feel some movement? Some positive stories please 🥰

I have one. I had kind of felt some tiny movements at around 18 weeks but nothing definite. Then at around 22/23 weeks I started to get kicks to the sides of my bump. I can now feel kicks low down as well. Still nothing much to the front but it is possible to feel movements with the anterior placement, hang in there! Have you had your 20 week scan yet?

That gives me some reassurance thankyou😁 I will give it 2/3 more weeks. Just really excited to feel her move! I have got my scan at 21 weeks next Wednesday so I will defiantly mention it while I’m there if I haven’t felt anything before then. Is it possible for the placenta to move throughout pregnancy or will it be anterior for the whole time?

Yes I had one and it remained anterior - they can move. I felt lots of rolls frik side to side and lots of digs but not 'kicks' as such. You could see my sister's babies foot outline when she was about due which totally creeped me out and made me glad my placenta was cushioning me abit!!

They can definitely move - mine is also low-lying/over the cervix and am having further scans to see if it will move away. As you uterus expands the position of the placenta will most likely move too.

I had an anterior placenta with my fourth baby, panicked a little as I'd felt the odd flutter between 16-18 weeks then nothing, started feeling her around 21 weeks.

Watermelon2019 · 20/05/2019 19:41

Posterior with my first, felt her at around 18 weeks, anterior with my second, supposedly you feel the second baby earlier however because of placenta I didn't feel him AT ALL until at least 22 weeks. Try not to worry, before you know it baby will be keeping you up all night kicking you in the ribs

mynameiscalypso · 20/05/2019 19:48

If it makes you feel any better, I felt my first movements at 19+6 so I'll keep everything crossed for you tomorrow! This is my first so I don't know what it would be like if my placenta wasn't anterior but I get very consistent movement now (27 weeks) and my DH has been able to see/feel the movements since about 22 weeks.

Thankyou so much for all the comments.
Maybe I’m worrying a little. Sounds like I have a few more weeks yet! And yes your right Watermelon2019 she will be keeping me up all night before I know it haha!

My 4th baby is due this week, I have an anterior placenta for the first time and I can honestly feel no difference in movements from my previous pregnancies, albeit I didn’t feel much this time around until 23/24 weeks.

EnjoyItAll · 20/05/2019 20:24

I have one and started feeling just before 20weeks but it was very faint! just small bubbles in my lower tummy so had to sit really still and place my hand on my belly to feel them

EnjoyItAll · 20/05/2019 20:25

also my midwife said not to worry when I said I didn't feel much and she would send me for a scan at 25w appointment if I hadn't felt him so yours may do the same if you can't feel her Smile

I’m 19 weeks and 3 days currently and also have an anterior placenta. Not felt anything either and it’s really stressing me out as I just want the reassurance of knowing she is ok. I have my 20 week scan on Thursday and can’t wait to just make sure all is ok. Hopefully not be too long until we start to get the kicks x

Londongirl03 · 20/05/2019 22:32

I’m 31 weeks and didn’t feel anything properly until about 23 weeks defo not daily. Even now I have only had one proper kick and lots more what feels like tumbling around! Very light movements in the early twenty weeks tho

hipstercat · 21/05/2019 09:04

Mine is anterior too and I didn't feel anything until after the 20 scan. Now it's making me jump and keeping me awake!
