UTI in first trimester

If anyone experienced this can they reassure me? I’m so worried.

I’m currently 10 weeks pregnant. I had a MMC discovered at 11 weeks last time (baby had died at 9.5 weeks). I’m on progesterone suppositories this time, so if i have miscarried i probably won’t know until the scan again so i’m frankly terrified all the time.

I had my booking apt a week ago, and they’v just called to say my urine same showed a uti (staph haemolyticus) and i’ll need antibiotics. I’ve called my gp and waiting for a call back from them now, but i made the mistake of googling and all i got was horror stories about how the antibiotics used to treat this can cause severe birth defects. I’m so scared and my DH has just gone away for a two week work trip so i have no one to calm me down. Can anyone tell me if this worked out okay for them?

There are antibiotics safe for use in pregnancy. Lots of pregnant ladies get utis. It's very common. You should be fine x

So the gp summoned me in for an immediate emergency visit and proscribed me Flucoxicillin 4x day for 7 days.

He was very reluctant to proscribe them and was going to not to do, until he discovered i had a slight temp of 99.8. I told him my temp was always that high (my 3yr old likes taking my temp so i know) but he has to stick to the diagnostic tools. He showed me the nhs advice that said “only use in pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks” which was massively un-comforting. Unfortunately it’s a rare bug and doesn’t respond to other treatments.

Has anyone taken this antibiotic in first trimester and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?

I've definitely had antibiotics for a UTI at 9 weeks and it was one that is ok in 1st and 2nd trimester not 3rd but can't remember which one. And all fine.
