Am i miscarrying?

I know no one can definitively tell me and I will be advised to go to a GP but I'm just asking here to see if I should even bother.

I'm on the contraceptive pill, have been for years, all smooth sailing no problems.

Regularly (about once a week) have sex. Don't use condoms as very comfortable with pill usage and always been good about taking it?

I take the pill though as in I don't normally have a 7 day break every 3 weeks but do so about twice a year, I kind of get a feeling when I need one IYSWIM. The last break was in late March.

Currently in the middle of a pill packet, 11 days in. starting from about 6 pm I've had really bad cramping in my stomach like I'm on my period (I have really bad period normally). I have also felt light headed and hot. Went to the bathroom at about 21:30 and realised I was bleeding, unusual but put a pad in, took pain killers and assumed this was my body's sign it was time to have a period. I've kept bleeding quite heavily since but there's a couple of quite big gloops in amongst it and it's bright red rather than dark kind of brown like my periods normally are. I still have very bad stomach cramps.

I had absolutely no inkling I might be pregnant but the cramps hurt so much I started googling and this came up. If it's relevant I had a very boozy, drug, late night last night (Saturday)(last big night out before a friend goes away) so now I'm thinking if I was pregnant this probably would've damaged it.

Am I miscarrying or am I just having a strange period (mine are normally very painful and make me ill so this one might be worse than normal)

I would call 111, and see what they say.

However, I do the same as you with regards to taking packs of pills back to back with no break for a bleed. A couple of times over the years I have had a "breakthrough bleed" similar to what you have described.

Take a pregnancy test, pregnancy hormones can hang around a little while after a miscarriage.
