Hi all,

I'm almost 24 weeks pregnant and only now sitting down properly looking at my maternity pay. I am shocked at just how low it is and that even that amount is taxed.

DH earns an ok wage (£40k and we live in South Wales) but I feel it's going to be a big stretch.

How has everyone coped? Was it easier than expected or quite difficult financially?

If you can, try living on that reduced amount for the rest of your pregnancy and save the rest. It will get you used to the lower amount and you’ll have some savings.
