Plug and show

Sorry for the tmi, on Friday I had a sweep done at about 1pm, I was 37w6d. I had a small amount of bleeding that evening (expected after a sweep) but then last night (Saturday about 10pm) I definitely lost my mucus plug which was very thick and had a lot of brown blood in (so presuming it was the bloody show as well?).

Just want to know if this is my body getting ready or still too early? Or what others experiences are after having their show?

Thank you! :)

I lost my plug 1 week ago at 38 + 3, had lots of pains that night and following night but 1 week on nothing has happened yet!

I’ve read it’s different for everyone though so hopefully your one of the lucky ones and things getting moving quicker.

I lost mine and didn't even realise! I was loosing it from about 37 weeks a bit at a time x

Ahh so definitely doesn't mean that labour is imminent then!

I've got my fingers crossed for both of you that things start happening soon!

Haha nooo hes 4 now 🤣 I should have said. But I went into labour at 39+1. Good luck, it's a good sign tho that you won't go over! 😂😂 x

I lost my plug at 9am on Thursday morning and had dd 4:30pm the next day. My contractions started pretty much straight afterwards. So could be it! Good luck to you all.

Mine started to go in the morning of 36+6 and baby was born by 8.30am on 37+0. We expected it to be about a week or more as it was my first, and we also called the hospital who said this, so it was a shock when contractions started at 11pm on 36+6!

helenlucy92 · 19/05/2019 21:26

Wow @cardboard33 that is quick!! It's less than 24 hours for me and not really got any other signs! Definitely got an increase in BH and more period like cramps, but nothing regular or anything! Reckon it may still be a few days! X

I had a sweep at 37+6 at 9am. One massive contraction around 11am, waters broke at 11.30am, baby arrived at 4pm. My cervix was very favorable apparently.

DS2 had a sweep at 37+6 and he arrived 38+2, but his head wasn't engaged so labour was a slightly slower affair (7 hours from labour starting to birth).

I hope this is the start for you!!

Wow @strokethefurrywall that was quick! I'm hoping I get similar to your DS2 situation! I think things have slowed down sadly, the sweep likely encouraged my cervix to start dilating but the rest is slow going!
