My husband and a I have been ttc for two years and had two chemicals previously. This time the test lines have got much darker but they are fading. Am I having another chemical? Anyone else’s positive or negative experiences would be appreciated xx

Maybe go doctors and get a blood test

Hmm they do look lighter but not massively so, especially because the latest two look a bit weird, like the line is kind of fuzzy. With my chemical the lines never got this strong and it disappeared pretty much overnight.

I know it's really hard but you should try and stop testing for at least a couple of days. I hope it works out for you x

I stopped testing once I got two positives, I never got a second positive the following day or after my af dye date. My chemicals never got strong lines either. This sticky bean I only got faint positive lines & one dark one about 5 days after af due. As pp said step away from the tests for now, enjoy the fact your pregnant today.

Thank you so much for your replies. Sorry that you have had to go through the pain of chemical pregnancy too. I definitely think you’re right about stepping away from the tests. It’s so hard not to become a obsessive in this situation!! There’s no point in symptom spotting as I am on a high dose of progesterone which causes all kinds of symptoms. I’m going to try and keep busy to distract myself.
Only time will tell.

You could try with a clear blue digital. Those tell you weeks. So when I tested a could days after my period it said 2-3 weeks and a week later it said 3+ weeks so you can see the progression. But some people say its not reliable. But for me it was. And when you are 6 weeks you could get a scan to check.

I’m really sorry to sound stupid here but may I ask what a chemical pregnancy is please? Xx

Hey OP,

when I got my BFP it didn't seem like my frer lines were progressing, and at times they seemed to be getting lighter. I thought I was having a chemical pregnancy and this was compounded by having a couple of ICs come up as BFN. After spending days obsessively reading about line progression I decided to leave it for a good few days before testing again, and happily I got a good solid line.

Someone posted a really helpful chart that showed how differently women's hgc levels increase depending on things such as baseline levels and the difference in rates of production (they can double as quickly as 24hrs in some women and 72hrs in others). This helped me to step away from the tests for 4 or 5 days as I realised there really might not be that much difference when testing every day, and I honestly drove myself mad.

It's such an anxiety provoking time, especially when you have history of chemical pregnancies, and sometimes it's almost impossible not to test even though you know it's causing further stress. Good luck!

@starlight84 - It's where you get a positive pregnancy test, but then AF comes as usual or a few days later. You're 'chemically' pregnant, but not enough to have implanted properly or show on a scan.

Starlight84 · 19/05/2019 20:11

Ahhhh ok. Thank you for explaining xx

WrenRose · 21/05/2019 07:53

Unfortunately it is chemical. I started bleeding this morning (21dpo) and tested to double check and got a bfn. I’ve had a good cry but I’m looking at the positives. This was the furthest I’ve got for a long while (my last chemical was a year ago) and my third cycle using progesterone to improve my luteal phase. Hopefully it’ll work out for us at some point.
Thank you all for your responses, it helps to know that there are others going through the same things xx
