Pre-12 Weeks Anxiety

Well, what an emotional rollercoaster this is turning out to be...
I am 6 weeks + 5. I had some very faint brown discharge at 4 weeks. Was told to repeat my test in a week and when I did, it was still positive and had increased to 3+ weeks since conception. This morning, I felt I had a bit of an increase in discharge although it was all clear/milky white. However, when I returned home, I went to the toilet and there seemed to be discoloured discharge on the pad I’ve been wearing (trying to ease my worries after what happened at 4 weeks). I went to the toilet and wiped and nothing. Then 20 mins later, I checked and there was again a little bit of discoloured discharge on the tissue, I’d say it was tinged with very light brown if I had to give it a colour. And I do mean a tinge - my friend said she probably wouldn’t even have noticed it if it was her. I’ve been checking and there’s been nothing else in the following 2.5 hours since. I can’t help but worry. I had my booking appointment yesterday and now this! What would you do? Am I being neurotic?

Hi elbie
I'm not an expert but I have had 2 miscarriages around the same stage and both were very noticeable and I definitely knew it because there was a lot more than discharge, it was blood and heavy like a bad period with pain.
I wouldn't worry and wouldn't worry too much, maybe keep an eye on it and ring the GP on Monday.
Hope this helps a little ease your anxiety.
I know how it feels to be that roller coasters and it's not nice !!

I wouldn’t worry necessarily, it’s incredibly common to have some brown discharge or even red spotting during pregnancy, so much so it’s almost an expected symptom.

But I would ring your local early pregnancy unit and ask how to be referred for an early scan ASAP to check things are okay. They should offer you on due to the brown spotting or if they don’t, reassure you that’s its such a non issue you don’t need a scan. But at least then you won’t be sat around terrified on your own and can check to see what’s going on in there.

EmeraldRubyShark I agree, they may be able to reassure you at least!

Hope all is well for you elbie

I’ve just posted something very similar! Best of luck xxx

I had this at 5 weeks. GP referred me for an early scan just in case and it was all fine. One explanation is its old blood from implantation... Just finding it's way out a week or so later than it would have done when it happened! Don't worry. I drove myself crazy and wish I'd been more chilled about it x

Thanks so much everyone. I haven’t had any more since that episode this morning - everything has been totally clear again. I will continue to keep a close eye though. X
