not engaged

First baby 37 and a half weeks and Baby’s head is not engaged at my midwife appointment ...is this a sign I’m no where near labour ? can’t bear the thought of having another 4 weeks 😓

I'm 39 weeks and not engaged. It's not a sign of being ready or not. A lot of babies only engage when labour starts or during labour.

You could have 1 week or 4 weeks or 6 weeks as babies come when they want. Make peace with that or you'll drive yourself mad! Good luck.

My least engaged baby (?) was my earliest.

My DD wasn't engaged but arrived s couple of days later. Doesn't necessarily mean you have a long wait :)

3 babies and none of them have ever engaged before birth. 2 were induced at 42wks and my middle came spontaneous at 9 days overdue. I'm expecting number 4 and also expecting to go over/be induced.

That said as others have said lots of babies don't engage til later on or even just before birth so it really isn't an indication of imminent birth. Lots of babies are engaged but that doesn't mean anything's about to happen either.

Thank you so much my midwife didn’t explain it like that at all hence being worried. just hoping to not go overdue as I’m so swollen and struggling in this pregnancy but i know I can’t control it unfortunately
