Where to put newborn during the day

Hey!
I'm looking at options for where to place baby during the day and could really use some advice

If I was to cover all bases it seems I need a Moses basket for sleep and some kind of rocker for awake time

Is there anything out there that does both? I don't mind buying what's needed but don't want too much unnecessary stuff either!

My other consideration is that we have a dog & most rockers are close to the ground which could be a pain keeping the dog away (although he's a very calm dog so I'm not even sure if this is a non issue)

The only item I have found that potentially does everything is the icandy michair with newborn pod. It seems the pod could be suitable for sleep and awake time but not 100% sure on this.

Thoughts would be gratefully received!!!

This thread has taken an interesting turn (and as far as dog goes I know mine is going to be too keen to nose and lick baby the second she gets an opportunity as she loves children and small animals, that's why I'm not sure about floor-dwelling as there'll always be that time the dog is quicker than me), we've got a 45 minute drive home from the hospital with the newborn, are we going to need to do a stop?

Hi All. I just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to respond. This has really given me the guidance I needed!

It has made me realise that I already have everything I need for the newborn weeks as I have a snuzpod for upstairs (which we could bring downstairs during the day), we have a carrycot as part of the pram & a playmate with toy bar.

It seems the only thing to buy would be a sling.

With regards to car seat, we have chosen the new cybex z cloud-this has a swivel base in the car and more importantly a lie flat option which can buy a little more time if they fall asleep in there!!

I'm definitely going to wait before buying any kind of rocker to a) see what he likes and b) how the dog is with him when at his level

Thanks again everyone you have been such an awesome help Grin

Glad you are sorted. Just remember that the Snuzpod top is pretty heavy and you will need to get someone else to lift it for at least the first few weeks (if you have a CS you mustn’t lift anything heavier than your baby but even after a vaginal birth you need to be careful - a lot of damage to pelvic floors is done during postpartum recovery).

I can see you’ve got a lot of responses now, but I had a sleeping pod. I put this on the sofa next to me for after feeds so I could rest me arm. Other than that I carried my DD with me around the house. If I was in the bathroom I’d rest her safely on towels, in the bedroom shed go in her crib with the mobile on while o got dressed. Other than that I had a vibrating swing downstairs which when she was a month old we used loads for breaks such as meal times. Otherwise she’d nap on me. Easier with the first! I’ve got a 2.5 yo now and one due July. Think I might have to get a sling to make things a little easier!
