Plannee Csection around Christmas time

Hello!
I have just had an early scan that dates me at 7+1 with an EDD 2nd Jan. I will be having a planned section due to complications in last delivery. I just wondered if anyone had experience in how they book sections over Christmas? I know they schedule them for 39 weeks which would be boxing day. Would they do this with it being a bank holiday or would it just be for emergency sections? Would they wait and do it on the 27th? Or before Christmas maybe? Just curious more than anything :)

They won't book electives for the bank holiday so it's more likely to be just after Christmas, they'll go for somewhere between 39-40 weeks rather than 39 on the dot, unless there are medical reasons to deliver early of course.

They don't always book them for 39 weeks on the dot. I have one booked for '41 weeks' incase I don't go into natural labour before but it's actually 41+1.

My sil was due a section on Boxing Day. She had it on the 27th instead. They will always do you later than earlier if at all possible.

It really depends what the hospital plan is over xmas. Mine didn’t do any routine ops over the 2 weeks of xmas. So ds 31 dec due date actually became 23 dec instead as that was the last date before xmas and they had no slots until 20 jan! Good luck

My due date was the 2nd! I had my section booked for the 27th. But in the end baby had other ideas and I had my baby by 'emergency' section on Xmas Eve. It was fab. Everyone avoids the hospital over Christmas so it was lovely and quiet. Staff were calm and not rushed off their feet. I went in in labour and they said that's no problem, let's do your section now for you. I had him 2 hours later! Ward to myself for 2 nights. Midwives took baby off me at night and bought him back for feeds as they had the manpower. It was honestly brilliant timing!!

Was this your dating scan with the NHS? Otherwise your due date could still change.

My elective was xmas eve

I'm having an ELCS next month after EMCS last year, it falls on a Sunday and they said no weekends or BH, it will be the first weekday after the 39th week, even if it is cutting it fine.
