The Nub Techs

Had my 8 week scan today (8+4), and having sworn I wouldn't do this, I proceeded to send it straight to the Nub Techs.

Now, I really honestly don't mind what I have, and I realise that it's not likely to be that accurate at 8 weeks, but I thought I'd give it a go. They said a girl!

Does anyone have any experience with these guys, and were they accurate for you?

I've just realised that the picture they used wasn't even my 8 week scan one, it was my 7 week one that I sent them as back up!

I've never heard of this but I'm really interested! I think I'd be happy to waste a fiver on their 24hr Ramzi theory service just for a laugh

peasando · 15/05/2019 17:18

I went for the £7.99 2 hour one @WildFlower2019, I'm so damn impatient! 🤦‍♀️

I don't know how they can tell if there's a nub at that stage , it's way to early . Nub theories are best after 12 week scans .

WildFlower2019 · 15/05/2019 17:24

@looneyloo88 it isn't the Nub theory at this stage, it's the Ramzi theory -

The Ramzi theory is based on the original research performed by Dr. Saad Ramzi Ismail. In this study ,more than 5,000 fetuses were scanned by ultrasound for placental location and gender. In normal fetal development, the genitals develop at around 4 weeks gestation so with ultrasounds performed early in pregnancy, it is nearly impossible to accurately determine gender based on visualization of the genitals.

In this study, ultrasounds were performed at 6 weeks gestation and then again between 18-20 weeks, when gender can be reliably predicted. Ultimately, all fetal genders were confirmed at birth. Using the data collected from the study, it was concluded that at six weeks gestation, 97.2% of the male fetuses had a placenta on the right side of the uterus. For female fetuses, in 97.5% cases, the placenta was found on the left side of the uterus.

Ramzi Theory uses this data to form the conclusion that gender can be reliably predicted during early ultrasound based on the position of the placenta within the uterus. There have not been additional studies performed to confirm or dispute this theory.

@looneyloo88 they do Ramzi theory too - that's what this one is based on. They don't do nub theory until 12 weeks plus.

I only did it for a bit of fun...

I paid for one and it was (as far as I know) accurate. I have 3dds and nub tech said boy. 20wk scan also said boy, obv not 100% til birth anyway. They do have 50/50 chance though.

I just wanted to know (I knew it was possibly just a bit of fun) but would have been happy either way.

MagicalCreatures · 15/05/2019 20:02

@WildFlower2019 I had heard about the Ramzi theory and knew about the positioning of the placenta etc but didn't realise it was that accurate.
Weirdly, the placenta was on the right side and I had a boy!! Xx

peasando · 15/05/2019 20:03

That's interesting @EverythingNow, do you feel different with this one than with your girl pregnancies? I had a sneaky feeling this might be a girl (even before I got that result today) just because I feel so much more sick than I did with my son. But who knows!

And v true about the 50/50 chance! 😃

EverythingNow · 15/05/2019 20:14

@peasando I do feel different in this is the first I've had with morning sickness (nothing with girls) and I've had no heartburn or PGD with this one and it was bad with my others.

EverythingNow · 15/05/2019 20:15

Mine was my 12wk scan though.

peasando · 15/05/2019 20:40

I'm not ruling out getting a nub one done after my 12 week scan 😂

looneyloo88 · 16/05/2019 09:41

I did actually pay for the ramzi theory on the gender experts website and it was wrong x

looneyloo88 · 16/05/2019 09:42

And my skull test was wrong too 🤦‍♀️😂

looneyloo88 · 16/05/2019 09:45

The problem with the ramzi one was tho - I wasn't sure if the scan was reversed or not ( sometimes they are mirror images and you wouldn't know ) BUT my nub tests were all spot on - it's pretty easy to tell with the nub theory I think ☺️

Gettingonabitnow · 16/05/2019 10:09

Omg this is so tempting to do, I’ve never heard of Nubtechs!

ryanreynolds · 16/05/2019 18:01

I saw this yesterday and did it today...they said 90% chance it's a boy based on my 12 week scan!!

I have been convinced I'm having a girl do not sure what to think of this really!

Gettingonabitnow · 16/05/2019 19:23

Are they qualified sonographers do you know?

Missbdhfc · 16/05/2019 19:41

Just submitted my scan pics ...

ryanreynolds · 16/05/2019 20:41

I don't think so @Gettingonabitnow. Was a bit of fun...I'm desperate to know but agreed with DH we wouldn't find out!! 🙈

Missbdhfc · 16/05/2019 21:06

They reckon ours is a girl.

ur Confidence: 90%

Conclusion to our gender prediction:

We have assessed the angle of your baby’s nub in relation to the spine it is below a 30-degree angle. Your baby’s nub also points down and sits directly on your baby’s rump.
Your baby's bladder position appears to be high set, so when we use bladder as an anchor, we can identify a no rise believing baby to be a GIRL.
We can also identify what we believe to be developing Clitoris on your scan images.
So how do we decide our percentages?

We decide our percentages based on the gestation of baby at the time of submission, clearness of images received, number of images received and exactly how much we are able to see on your scan images whilst analysing.

Glad some other people have done it too, it'll be interesting to see whether they're right or not! I'm definitely going to be finding out ASAP (yes I realise there's no guarantee until they come out!) and I will report back!
