Feel like a zombie, only 5 weeks!

Only found out a week ago that I am pregnant.

I can't believe how utterly drained I feel. I feel like a zombie, my arms and legs are heavy and slow and I'm pretty sure I could sleep for 22 hours of the day if left.

I'm struggling to make it through the day at work.

Did anyone else have this? And if so, please tell me it eased up eventually!

I'm at 8 weeks and absolutely shattered. Could literally sleep anytime, anywhere! I'm really struggling at work as well. You are not alone. X

Oh yes I remember feeling this. I got my boost of energy back at about 18 weeks:) I just tried eating as healthy as possible and ate throughout the day.

Welcome to life as a parent! Fatigue is normal in the first trimester (first 12 weeks), reduces for the second trimester and then gets worse in the third trimester.

Teddybear45 · 15/05/2019 16:00

Eating protein helps. Nuts, meat, whatever you can stomach really. Also fruit squash.

SquigglyOne · 15/05/2019 18:35

I am 6+2 and feel exhausted all the time - even when I first get up in the morning!

TheCatInTheSquare · 15/05/2019 19:12

It's completely normal and it sucks. It gets easier once the placenta takes over but comes back with a vengeance towards the end of pregnancy.

It's kind of a cruel joke too that at a time we really need caffeine, it's not recommended to have more than I think 200 mg per day. 😑

Haggisfish · 15/05/2019 19:13

I got better about 14 weeks but did nearly fall asleep in woods while walking the dog many times before then.

Newyearsameoldshit · 15/05/2019 20:35

Yes! I was going to bed as soon as toddler was down, waking up for a bit of dinner then back to bed for the night. Couldn't get enough sleep!

It should ease up as you near the end of the first tri, so hang in there and take as many naps as you can!

melissa1215 · 15/05/2019 20:45

I felt exactly the same pretty much all the time until about 11 weeks, I was lucky if I could stay awake past 8pm, poor DH has to put up with me falling asleep all the time haha.

It gets easier though, you get more energy in the second trimester

youngfreeandnotsingle · 16/05/2019 10:50

I'm 11 weeks now and do feel a lot better, I've made it to 9.30pm this week (almost) instead of my usual 8pm! I don't feel like I could nod off at my desk as much any more, it will improve OP

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 16/05/2019 10:53

No help but I felt like that all the way through Gin

SMiles14 · 16/05/2019 14:08

Yesss I am also 5 weeks and so so tired. I can't concentrate and keep making stupid mistakes. My poor colleagues, I really am not pulling my weight. I hope it gets better soon!

JadaMarie · 16/05/2019 14:22

I am 5 weeks too. Honestly...its awful! I cant seem to funtion at work which is awkward when I am in work all the time. I cant seem to string sentences together and I am just so tired all the time. Had an awful night sleep last night with about 2 and a half hours of nausea at 1am so today is just so painful! I feel like I could pass out under my desk!

BarbarAnna · 16/05/2019 14:28

I can remember being so dog tired, I had to sleep in the loos at work!

Marty93 · 16/05/2019 16:30

I am 6+1 today. The exhaustion is no joke.... I just feel so so so tired and drained physically and mentally. I have no concentration span and could fall asleep standing up I'm sure! I feel awful at work, the nausea is starting to kick in half way through eating any meal I feel like I could throw it back up...! So everything all together is just making me feel so rubbish. Hoping it gets better after the first trimester!

Gustavo1 · 16/05/2019 16:36

It does get better. I’m 10+3 and am exhausted! I can sleep 8-7 and still be ready to drop by 5pm. I have 3 kid already which doesn’t help with the tiredness!
Rest as much as you can, do as much as you can to make everything (laundry, cleaning, cooking etc) easier.

Ohkayyy · 16/05/2019 18:32

I'm finding I'm absolutely exhausted in the day at work, can't concentrate, feel like I could collapse into sleep any minute but then when I do get home and settle down, I can't sleep!

Frankola · 17/05/2019 20:23

Congratulations on your pregnancy! You definitely arent alone. This tiredness can last the first trimester but once you pass 12 weeks you should feel a lot more energetic. By w13 of mine I was skipping around with loads of energy Smile

MummyBearBoo · 17/05/2019 22:59

First trimester is exhausting but not as bad as the first few weeks with a newborn. I thought I knew what tiredness was I realise now I had no clue now she is 3 it seems like a distant memory though!!
I'm pregnant with my second this this is my 3rd pregnancy (my second ended at 12 weeks) and by the time I made it to the second trimester with my DD I had bags of energy til I hit the 3rd then a 22 hour labour with no sleep followed by a newborn who fed every two hours for an hour and a bit all day and all night for about 2 months almost killed me! But I was so tired I felt like I was in a drunken daze most of the time!
Despite all this though as you can tell I'd do it all again It's is so worth it!!!
