Hiya, I have been on sertraline for around 4 years I came off it in dec when I started TTC. I am now 17 weeks and started taking them again 2 weeks ago as my anxiety levels have been really high lately. I told the midwife this on Monday at my 16 week appt and she has referred me to a consultant. I was previously midwife led and have a 4 year old where I had no complications. Will taking sertraline effective I can give birth as i was really hoping for a water birth in a midwife led unit. My anxiety has gone even higher since finding out about the appointment and makes me wonder if it's worth taking them at all.

It can cause issues with birthweight and so the consultant needs to review. If they don’t have reason to suspect another issue that might also impact birthweight then they’ll refer you back to the midwife. Consultants don’t take on cases unless they are complex enough to warrant their presence.
