Labour and when does it come...

Might be a silly question but I'm a ftm at 37+3
I woke up this morning with really bad pains in my back and side, sorry tmi but I had 3 bouts of diarheaa back pain seemed to ease after that and a nap. labia feels swollen and there's seems to be more pressure down below, I think I have lost a few small bits of my plug over the last few weeks but no show or waters breaking. I am getting like a shooting pain too (not in my urethra) so doubt it's a uti. Baby is very active and actually starting to hurt me when moving. Does anybody have any experience on when to sort of expect labour from this point, I understand everybody is different, I just can't work out if this is the start of things or if it's just because I am getting closer to my due date!
Thank you x

Hi there lelrx,

Sounds like this could well be the start of it. But (sorry) this can go on for a few days sometimes. How are you feeling now? Any sign of movement?

Anyone else care to share their first signs of labour to keep lelrx company while she waits?!

I had terrible diahoreaa on the Friday evening, contraction started Sunday, and Lb was born the following Wednesday.
I think diahoreaa is usually a good sign of things starting, but the pains you describe could just be usual late pregnancy stuff.
I was worried with my first labour would sneak up on me- trust me it doesn’t!! When it starts you’ll know about it!!

I had diahorea after spending most of the pregnancy being constipated. Two days later I felt strange and not myself, but had a compulsion to bleach the life out of the bathroom.

That evening I was in my sparkling clean bath and I felt the waters rumble. 2 hours later my waters broke, all over my spotless bathroom floor.

I was 35 weeks so it was a bit of a panic, I lost my mucus plug when I was examined at the hospital, and I was having contractions by that point.

Good luck!
