Hi im pregnant with my 1st child and im having a baby boy. Ive had a perfect pregnancy so far apart from the last few weeks as this baby does not want to come out. Ive now had 4 sweeps and lost my plug and been told the babys head in really low down. Im booked in for an induction in 3 days but i really want to go into natural labour. Its becoming such an emotional rollercoster. Any one been in a similar situation? Also im scared that that because im over im gunna have a huge baby or face complications. Sad

I went over 11 days but went into labour naturally... you still have time. Try some gentle walks, my husband had me going up and down stairs too... whether that did anything though is a mystery haha

I went 6 days over on my first and in the end I ate pineapple,DTD and got a foot massage....one of those or all 3 finally brought on labour!

Scrub the kitchen floor!!

Lots of bouncing on the birthing ball, long walks, and chilli!

My sil went 2 weeks over then while waiting for her induction call she went into labour naturally!

Hello, I am currently 40+7, also ready for baby to come now Smile Lots of people, even strangers tell me how to induce labour but to be honest I find it really annoying, like their implying I'm doing something wrong. They won't induce me before 42 weeks so the way I see it I only have a week left until I get to meet baby and anything sooner is a bonus! I can't really control induction/birth so not worrying about at the minute Smile

I'm in the same boat as you. 1st baby and I'm currently 40+10 I've had 2 sweeps which both haven't worked, been on numerous walks, bounced on the ball for soooo many hours, cleaned my house and car and everything else in-between nothing at all has worked. Booked in for an induction on Wednesday so hoping it's quick and not a long one like I've heard it could be.

Good luck to you all when babies do decide to arrive. X

teacuptale · 13/05/2019 22:25

Mine decided to arrive once I’d resigned myself to induction and planned fun things to do with my remaining baby-free time.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 13/05/2019 22:28

OP why not cancel your induction and take some of the pressure off.
If you and the baby are healthy then just go with the flow.

Hi op. I was 40+14 when dd eventually turned up. I refused induction - I had a home birth planned (white coat syndrome). They won't stay in there forever!

HoustonBess · 14/05/2019 04:16

Lots of countries count 42 wks as the due date. If there are no medical reasons for induction, just stick it out. He won't stay in there forever.

Change your induction date (or just don't turn up.)

Poppins2016 · 14/05/2019 04:27

The more stressed you become, the less likely you are to go into labour naturally (our bodies are programmed to pick up on stress/fear and not give birth under those circumstances!).

I got to 41+4 and had 3 sweeps before going into labour with DS the day before I was due to be induced. I think part of what tipped me into labour was my attitude... I decided that I might as well stop stressing, seeing as my baby would be induced soon anyway! I also did a lot of bouncing around on an exercise ball following my final sweep.

DS wasn't a big baby (7 lbs), even though he was overdue.

BonAccordSpur · 14/05/2019 04:43

was40+12 booked in for my 1st baby,a c-section on friday13th but begged them to change it to following monday so she was well over-cooked! DD came out with a ton of thick black hair and long fingernails and over 10lb ..Nothing worked on shifting her early, energetic sex, hotter than usual Asian food,pineapple..

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel · 14/05/2019 04:47

You're not yet overdue. Full term is 37 to 42. Medical professionals are obsessed with the 40 week mark in this country. In France its 41 weeks. It's basically made up and then we freak out when the date goes past making it less likely you'll go into spontaneous labour. Stress hormones will be telling your baby it's not a good time to be born and to hang on.

Pineapples don't work, curry won't work, it's time... If you eat a pineapple and go into labour at 40+ weeks, likelihood is you will have gone in to labour anyway as you were full term.

Its so hard but its time to relax. Enjoy nmthe last few days of not having a baby. Go for walks, go to the cinema, get your hair done, see friends for coffee.

I went into labour at 40+8 when I'd finally decided to cancel my induction at 40+7, resigned myself to thinking baby will come when it comes, went for a swim and had my hair done and that meant I got rid of the cortisol and upped the oxytocin and went into labour.

Don't panic. You aren't overdue.

Sweep, not induction at 40+7...
