Evap line or pregnant

Hi

My girlfriend began complaining of swollen breasts, smells making her feel sick, back hurting etc after a week of ovulating so she began taking pregnancy tests.. 2 days ago (about 9 days after ovulating) she told me she had a positive with the first response and began almost immediately telling friends and family she's pregnant.. problem for me is I don't see a pink line as she does on the strip, to me it looks more like a evap line

I asked her to be cautious with who she tells and get blood work before announcing it to everyone but she's adamant she's pregnant even to the point of getting upset if I question the result. A friend of mine believed she was showing symptoms of a fake pregnancy which I really hope she's not but has anyone had any experience like this in the past or could I be in the wrong?

Here is the test in question to me the line looks grey but to her it's pink, what do you guys think and any advice on how to deal with the situation?

Looks positive to me. Can you send a picture of it not zoomed in?

ManeChanged · 13/05/2019 13:22

An you show us a photo that includes the control line for comparison?

Also get her a digital test. If you are in the uk she won’t get a blood test to confirm. The docs will rely on her telling them she’s had a positive test until they scan her around 12 weeks

Looks positive to me

Looks positive to me. There's colour there and often early on when it dries down it dries to a greyish colour as there's not a lot of pigmentation on a faint but positive line.

Do another first response or a digital test for clarification. It's possible she's scared of taking another in case it's not positive.

Sure here it is zoomed out a little, sorry about the quality, I hope you guys are right...it may just be my eyes seeing a discoloured line instead of a pink line but I don't know

Sorry if this is tmi but we used the pullout method over the 2 weeks leading to ovulation, not the safest method I know but we pulled out way before anything happened but I know there is still a chance so we've been both hoping it's true but I have had doubts

Thank you for the replies btw, I'm hoping I'm wrong and it's good news :p

I just took your guys advice and ordered a digital and another first response test, thank you for the help..I have just been frightened of her announcing the news too early and getting her hopes up only to be told she's not later down the line.. She's got a tendency of getting overly excited about things before it's happened where I have always tend to be really cautious lol

That is 100% pregnant. No Evap line is that dark. However, I’d still do another test just to confirm. I did multiple each time.

The reading she gets within a few minutes is the correct reading. If you looked at it or took that photo a while later there is every chance it is just an evap line. If she got that reading at the time she was meant to look at it, it is an indicator of pregnancy. An hour (guesstimate) later however it would mean nothing.

Thanks sounds like it could be good news then, im not sure how she did the test or when she looked but I believe she would know when too. I think it was just with the other pics of that test it didnt look like a strong line like I was expecting

Congratulations on being a father

SleepingStandingUp · 13/05/2019 14:43

I don't get it, you're using the pull out method but are really hoping she's pregnant??

Raign · 13/05/2019 14:50

:p thanks guys...still shell shocked from learning I'm gonna be a dad and frightened at the prospect of only having a few months to get everything sorted for a little mini me coming but also really excited lol

Thanks for easing my mind.. sometimes I start second guessing everything and need confirmation lol

@sleepingstandingup we both have been wanting to have a child within the next year or two once we were more organized with living arrangements etc.. The news has came at a busy time in our lives where we have been looking for a home together and me searching for a new job to support us so adding a child on the way to the mix is a little stressful but also something both of us have been looking forward too

I'm glad it's good news for you both
