When I found out I was pregnant I was over the moon. On the same day I had constipation and may have strained too hard and ever since I've been spotting.

I paid a visit to an early pregnancy unit, blood test confirmed that my pregnancy was progressing and during an examination they found that I have a polyp on my cervix.

Can I ask whether there are anyone out there experienced spotting and how long for during your first trimester? If you have similar issue I will keep this thread updated.

There are not enough information out there about pregnancy spotting and how worrying it can be!

I had a viability scan at 7 weeks which was okay and then started spotting after that, on and off, for 2 weeks. Neither the midwife nor the IVF clinic seemed worried enough to do further tests or offer further scans as it was beige / brown and didn’t appear on the pad (just tissue). So far (fingers crossed) it hasn’t returned but I have been told that it may return around the time I would normally have my period (so 12-13 weeks, 16 weeks etc).

Thank you teddybear. I appreciate it. Mine is a bit heavier, a large brown (sometimes bright red) spot on panty liner and blood in urine.

We shall see.

It turns out that my polyp was bleeding and a gynaecologist removed it for me. Now that I have much less spotting.

Another issue is that on the vaginal scan they couldn't see a sac.
