New buggy versus second hand

Would love to hear from experience what people think about 2nd hand versus new buggies.

DD is due in July and we are keen on either iCandy Peach or Uppababy Vista, both of which could convert and do us a second child if we have one in next 4 years.

New the travel systems are around a grand which is eye watering - second hand more like £250. But so many people buy new there must be some big benefits to splashing out. It's all so confusing!

I think if you are going to get the use out of it then splash out on a new one.
They can be in them long enough to justify it.

I bought a bugaboo cameleon years ago, brand new, I got talked about in the family for splashing out so much money on a buggy I won't use for more than a year and how I should of accepted a third hand one I was offered blah blah but I didn't care because I knew what I wanted and I worked and paid for it as did my partner.

I actually had that same buggy for 5 years continued use! My first baby used it for 2.5 years until I had baby 2 and then used it for another 3 years and I still sold it for a third of the price I paid for it! All I had to do was pay out for a new set of front wheels as I walked a lot where I could so they did get worn out after 3 years use. I personally don't like strollers as I don't think they look as comfortable as a bugaboo and as I do drive I didn't need the convenience of a stroller for buses etc

It's personal preference and especially when having your first baby it's nice to have new.
I'm now having another baby (youngest is now 5) and I wish I had actually kept that bugaboo as I would of used it again, however I will be buying a brand new one again...and I'll use it until this one no longer needs a buggy
