C&W often get a bad rap in posts on this site, so i thought I would share my experience. I was induced there on Monday (luckily only needed to have my waters broken and it all kicked off), which I had been dreading, and can't say enough good things about the midwives and staff on duty.

The midwives have been great all through my pregnancy, including leading up to the induction at 40w+10, and Monday was no different. The ante-natal and labour staff were great (despite it being a very busy day, so I had to spend a lot of time waiting for a space in the labour ward, but they explained this early and were very reasonable about it), and my labour experience was as good as I could ever have expected (ouch!). I spent a night and day in the post-natal ward and the midwives were lovely and so supportive, I never waited more than a few minutes for someone to respond after buzzing despite it being pretty much full.

All in all, I was very impressed so thought I would share my story with anyone still to give birth there and a bit nervous (as I was).

And finally - to all the midwives out there, you guys do an amazing job!!

Thank you for your post - i'm having my baby there in 4 weeks and it's really good to hear a nice story about C&W rather than just negative things.

Firstly, congratulations! Secondl, it was so nice to read your postI'm having my twins there in 3 weeks time and it's so lovely to hear good things about the post-natal care. Thanks for sharing your positive experience, i'm feeling in need of lots of reassurance just now!

Again - thanks for your positive message! I'm due to have mine there in 4 weeks and am also a bit nervous. I actually spent a few hours on the labour ward yesterday after a bit of a scare and would also say that both the midwives and doctor I saw all seemed really nice. Feeling a bit more relaxed about it all now.

Hello Nixies - thankyou sooo much for the positive post. Im due to give birth there next week and had read so many nagative reports about C&W. I did go for a hospital tour and it certainly seemed fine and the midwives we met seemed nice.
Anyway, thanks again, makes me feel alot better about next week!!!

Just an update!
Despite not being due for another 4 weeks actually gave birth to a baby girl last Friday at C&W. The staff were great during labour- the midwives, doctors etc.
I was dreading the post natal ward but it was actually fine and I was there for 6 nights. There were a few midwives who were a bit off but the great majority were friendly and helpful. The wards were really quiet when I was there so maybe I was lucky but I wouldn't hesitate going back there.
