Sickness and nausea

I've been prescribed cyclizine but not sure it's actually working. Wearing acupressure bands, drinking ice water, crackers for food. 8 weeks pregnant.

Any advice for the nausea? V rarely sick but won't open mouth in case I vomit everywhere!

Try to zone out ... drink fizzy appletizer before feet hit the floor, carry food bags to throw up in ( always felt about to puke sick so had them on me at all times ) nippli g can make you feel better but chew well and try to go for moist looser foods ( easier when coming back up) ... it honestly does become a distant memory eventually ... fingers crossed the 2nd trimester is kinder x

Eat frequently. Drink a lot of water. Try and keep busy, i find mine is worse when im laying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself.. suck on mints or fruity boiled sweets.. get fresh air.. ask midwife for a different type of anti sickness i think theirs a few x

Frequent munching! Acupuncture helped me too.

Plenty of water (I'm rubbish at this so drink a lot of dilute juice to stomach it, pre pregnancy I loved water).

It will (hopefully) be over soon.

I’m on cyclizine and omoperzole and can nearly eat. To the extent my body has gone into starvation mode.
I don’t actually get sick, because I haven’t actually eaten enough to get sick.
I’m finding it very draining.
If you don’t think it’s working go back to the Dr. Mine has said for me to go straight back if I don’t start to feel better.

Em39ma · 10/05/2019 18:10

Should of been barely on nearly 🤦‍♀️

Thank you everyone. It's very reassuring when you know other people feel shit too!

I was constipated so took duclolax and now I'm definitely not but running to loo more than I'd like. Won't take any more duclolax but will take all advice on board!

I have not been sick once but the nausea is constant.
I can't cope 😭

Things that helped me:

Carried a pack of crackers everywhere with me, especially on car journeys.

Avoided fizzy drinks. Drank loads of water, sharp-flavoured juice drinks like Cranberry or grapefruit, and lemon/ginger tea.

I found sour flavours good for distracting me from the nausea so I put vinegar on everything (even toast). And kept emergency Haribo Tangfastic all over the house/at work/in the car.

If it got really bad and I could tell I was going to actually throw up, I'd have a spoonful of plain vanilla ice cream. It didn't stop the vom, but it was very soothing on the throat, and made the whole experience a bit less grim. (I still do this if I have a sickness bug. My top tip. You're welcome.)

Good luck.
