Hey everyone.....

I guess I’m around 8ish weeks and during that time I have become a professional toilet paper analyst šŸ˜‚. I use a laughing emoji but it’s actually getting me really down and I’ve not moved off the sofa today.
I’ve had a MC before so constantly thinking negative things will go wrong. I went to the loo this morning and I convinced myself there was a speck of brown discharge but in hindsight I don’t think it was.. I’ve had nothing else today, but I am sitting ages analysing the toilet paper to the point I’m convincing myself coloured specks on the actual toilet paper have come from me!!!

I don’t know what to do with myself 😢

4 weeks here and yep! Nice to know it's not going to get better šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚.

I've just pee'd on an OPK because I have no pregnancy tests šŸ˜‚

Eliza9919 · 09/05/2019 16:54

I'll only buy white TP now so I can inspect it.

Megan2018 · 09/05/2019 16:58

I am 22 weeks today, found out at 4 weeks. I have inspected every piece of toilet paper since day 1. It is not getting any easier!

glitterbomb13 · 09/05/2019 17:00

Yip totally with you! I'm 7+1 and at it constantly- my wee is so dark at the moment that sometimes I have to really convince myself it's just that!

Orangedaisy · 09/05/2019 17:01

I have had 2 healthy pregnancies and no mc-I still wore only white or cream pants for entire pregnancies so I could see if anything untoward going on. Very normal paranoia imo, particularly if you’ve sadly suffered mc in the past. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy.

youngfreeandnotsingle · 09/05/2019 17:05

Same here, I'm now 10 weeks and counting down to our 12 weeks scan in just over two weeks. I'm hoping the inspections will stop a bit then

Kate3150 · 09/05/2019 17:08

WOW thanks for all your responses 😊.
It’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one. I think my checking has got worse because I’m so pleased with how far I’ve come, I would be beyond heart broken now if anything bad happened. Although a MC at any stage would devastate me.
I was all ready today to go and buy some new jeans as the ones I wear at the moment I can’t do up šŸ˜‚. Was also going to treat myself to something from the white company (I know it’s early on) but I’ve bought so many baby gifts for other people from there, I thought now it’s my turn to buy a little something, but no way will I be doing that anytime soon after today’s scare 😢.

@youngfreeandnotsingle trust me, it won't!
I had about 3 spots of blood on Sat, spent 5 hours in the MAU. All was fine.
But if anything, the checking has got worse now! I think I'll still be at it until she is born.

Mamabear12 · 09/05/2019 18:03

I only do this when there is spotting. I had spotting a few days before my period was due and it went. But I was checking daily for a few days. And today minor spotting this morning when I wiped (brown mixed w discharge) and then clear rest of day. But keep going to toilet tonwipe and check. I’m 8 weeks almost and had 6 week scan w strong heartbeat. But driving me nuts having to keep checking!

Kate3150 · 09/05/2019 19:24

@Mamabear12- so pleased your 6 week scan went well, did they say what the cause of spotting could be? I’m due my period right about now so I guess that could be contributing to the bit of discharge I had this morning.
I just want to enjoy things and look forward to having a baby, my mind drift sometimes thinking about the future and what could be, but the happy, positive thoughts never stay for long xx

This made me laugh...as I’m terrible for toilet paper inspections, and even shining my phone torch on my knickers ā€˜just in case’! We usually have cream toilet paper but I had to switch it it to white as I thought it could hide if there was discharge.
I had a mc at 7 weeks, so found early pregnancy really hard but it got easier with each day/ week that passed.
But I’m 18wks now and have relaxed, but have to say I’m not as excited as I was with my first pregnancy- I feel I’m still holding back and worrying.
I’ve had some extra scans (1 at 8wks, 11weeks, 13wks, 16wk gender scan).
I have nhs 20 wk scan booked and then see consultant app following day, so have said I will go to next or John Lewis after appointment on the Thursday and buy something nice and start to actually get into pregnancy mode!!!

NoParticularPattern · 09/05/2019 21:17

I was like this in both pregnancies up until the point where I could feel baby moving. Then I felt like I had another better method of checking all was ok, it before that it was toilet paper scrutiny!!

Kate3150 · 09/05/2019 21:30

@Bere111- I spent 2 hours this morning shining the light from my phone on the toilet paper. I felt as though I was losing my mind. I buy this eco/recycled paper which is a cream colour and has lots of specks in which doesn’t help my anxiety lol. You’re right the early stages are so hard, i wish I could stay in bed and get up at 20 weeks lol.
@NoParticularPattern- I’m kidding myself that I’ll feel loads better at 12 weeks but just don’t feel confident I’ll even get that far now 😢

@Megan2018 as she said. I’m 25 weeks and still do too unfortunately. I had 2 mc last year.

MrsH497 · 11/05/2019 01:00

Yep! My DH has even now commented on it. I've had some light brown discharge/spotting which has freaked me out (especially as I'm on holiday) I just want this little nugget to be all good

HouseOfToys · 11/05/2019 01:09

Every single time I wiped, for the whole pregnancy. I thought it was a normal thing to do

agteacht · 11/05/2019 23:43

Me too... the loo roll, the white pants...

10w and I've had two early scans because of paranoia! I think a lot of it based on previous mc because my SIL is pregnant, has never mc'ed and seems much calmer...

At least that's what I'm telling myself!

I have had spotting on a few occasions but bizarrely because I've had it and then all fine on the scans I am now getting less freaked out by it!

After my official 12w scan I just know I'll end up having a couple more reassurance scans until I feel some movement!!

Mrsmummy90 · 12/05/2019 00:17

I'm 29 weeks and still check every so often! It's natural to be worried but try not to let it take over.
Maybe challenge yourself to not examine tp at one bathroom trip a day?

I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy x

Mochiface · 12/05/2019 09:05

Hi all,

Congratulations all and I am Sorry to hear about all the worries and anxieties. I'm the same and hope you guys don't mind me joining this.

I recently had my third miscarriage and it was a missed miscarriage had medical management , one cycle and now pregnant. So I'm not even sure how long my cycle is supposed to be but I used to be 29/30 days so period should be around now or tomorrow. I some blood streaks in my CM, barely visible But I'm freaking out big time already, plus boobs are not tender whatsoever which is completely different to how I used to be. Maybe this is the norm for me now? I also tested really early which doesn't help.. I tested on the 8th May and it's been faint but everytime the line comes up within a minute and tests haven't been any darker really. Period started on 14th April. I have stopped testing as it's torture and waiting for the GP appointment. But everytime I'm going to the toilet I just think I'll see red.

Kate3150 · 08/06/2019 20:11

How’s everyone doing? Just had a funny restaurant incident. First time I thought I wiped brown, second time pink. So 3rd time had to take phone with me to inspect under light but couldn’t see anything. Must be the light in the toilet, very very dark! X

tisonlymeagain · 08/06/2019 20:17

I wasn't but after having a large bleed yesterday I haven't stopped inspecting it, or going to the loo every half an hour to check.

Kate3150 · 08/06/2019 20:53

@tisonlymeagain- bless you, sending virtual hugs. Have you contacted hospital? X

OP posts:
tisonlymeagain · 08/06/2019 21:16

Yes @Kate3150 I went to the EPU yesterday. It was a significant bleed after having sex so it could just be my cervix. I'm only 5+1 so they wouldn't do a scan but they did bloods with a view to scanning at the end of next week. HCG came back at 14,500 which is pretty high Confused so the sister said on the basis they'll scan me Monday because with those levels the pregnancy should be visible. No bleeding since, a little tinge this morning but think that was probably leftover as was brown so will just have to wait and see what happens on Monday.

slipperywhensparticus · 08/06/2019 21:19

Just don't buy the one with flowers in I did I loved the smell but I kept spotting and it wasnt helpful!
