I had growth scans fairly often due to GD and was told at each one DS was to be a little chunk so packed some 0-3. We were a little surprised when this little skinny 6lb 14oz dot came out and DH had to go and buy some tiny baby clothes and nappies as everything else swamped him!

LunaLovesgood · 09/05/2019 22:01

DD wss 6 lbs 10 oz and we rolled the sleeves back on tiny baby Grin if I remember correctly she didn't go into newborn until she was about 6 weeks old

Fatted · 09/05/2019 22:06

I had two big babies. Didn't bother with newborn or first size clothes. Up to a month fitted 9 lbs DS1 for a week and 8.5lbs DS2 for a few weeks. I just went straight to 0-3.

taylorlynn · 09/05/2019 22:08

It's confusing because the size varies so much from shop to shop! I brought newborn from Asda and boots for DD1 which lasted about a three weeks and then 0-3 months.

Peabody25 · 09/05/2019 22:16

He was 10lb 11oz so in 0-3 months for a couple of weeks then straight into 3-6 months.

CatRash · 09/05/2019 22:40

6lb 7oz

Was in tiny baby for a couple of weeks, then newborn/0-1 and eventually 0-3 just before 3 months old!

Different brands vary massively. Also I've found boys stuff bigger than girls sometimes. My daughter is 21 months and is mostly in 12-18 and 18-24 size stuff. We still have some 6-9 month jumpers and cardigans in use though!!

MsJuniper · 09/05/2019 22:58

9lb but lost quite a bit of weight initially

Newborn and then 0-1m for first month or so, then 0-3m

It depended on the brand though, some newborn say up to 7lb on the label, some say up to 9lb.

Eisley · 09/05/2019 23:05

He was 7lb8oz and was in tiny baby for 2 weeks then newborn for another 2 weeks

KateTTC123 · 09/05/2019 23:08

Born on Tuesday 7lbs 9oz and newborn fits perfectly

sunshineandshowers21 · 09/05/2019 23:12

my kids were 4lb 11oz, 6lb, and 4lb 4oz and they were all in tiny baby clothes and even they were too big!

PetraRabbit · 09/05/2019 23:57

6.6 and needed tiny baby for about a month! Remember brands vary massively. I found Mothercare enormous, Mamas and Papas didn't do a size small enough for my baby's first month, M&S are roughly correct on size.

moomin11 · 10/05/2019 09:07

6lbs 10 and needed small baby then newborn. We also didn't use all the 0-3 babygrows we'd bought. DD is 4 now and only now wearing age 4-5 clothes, she's always been on the small side.

Ribeebie · 10/05/2019 09:08

7lb 1 oz but in tiny and size 0 nappies for 3 weeks. In newborn until about 8-9 weeks old

harrypotterfan1604 · 10/05/2019 09:10

8lb 1oz and she was in newborn/first size for around the first month.

WilsonandNoodles · 10/05/2019 09:16

6lb6oz he's still in newborn a month on. Tiny baby would have fit but we didn't have much and newborn didn't look rediculous.
I think it mainly goes on length so a shorter heavier baby might stay in newborn longer than a longer lighter baby.

spaniorita · 10/05/2019 12:11

Both boys were 10lbs and went straight in to 0-3 stuff. There were a couple of bits of newborn stuff that were given as gifts - I think tu at Sainsbury's that came up slightly bigger and fitted for a couple week.

Lazysundays18 · 04/06/2019 20:44

9lbs 11oz and 57cms & he wore newborn for about 3 weeks then in to 0-3.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 07/06/2019 02:54

Mine were both high 7lbs and were in newborn and up to 1 month.

It’s worth noting that ‘newborn’ is different in different shops - some places newborn is up to 7lb 10oz (or thereabouts) but other places (eg. Mamas & Papas) newborn goes up to 10lb and therefore lasts a lot longer!

Mumof3Boysandafurbaby · 07/06/2019 06:31

All of mine were 8-10lb and were in newborn for a couple of weeks before moving to 0-3.

clubchair · 07/06/2019 06:56

Newborn for about a month. H&M used to do 0-2 months and 2-4 months baby clothing which was more useful than tiny newborn and too big 0-3. Not sure if they still do.

Heyha · 07/06/2019 19:04

Glad I opened this, on paper ours is going to be about 7lb, maybe I should nip and get a cheap pack of tiny baby in each of the basics just in case and keep the receipt!

Shelbybear · 08/06/2019 12:07

She was 8lb at birth and was in Next first size or newborn elsewhere for about 2 weeks. Then it was up to 1 month size. She didn't go into 0-3 months until she was 6/7 weeks.

Pinkvoid · 08/06/2019 19:34

10 lbs, 9 lbs 6 and 10 lbs 3 all went straight into 0-3, none fit in anything newborn. DC4 was 8 lbs 5 but we were expecting another huge baby so only bought 0-3, most of it drown him 😑.

FannyFeatures · 08/06/2019 19:38

#1 6lbs 15oz - 54cm was in tiny baby until about 6 weeks.

#2 7lbs 2oz - 47cm was in tiny baby until about 8 weeks.

AgentCooper · 08/06/2019 19:39

DS was 8lbs 1oz and was in newborn for about a week. The thing with him was (and is) that he’s really, really long/tall so while 0-3 was baggy it was good length wise.
