Hot and cold drink suggestions

I got my BFP on tuesday (yay!) Does anyone have suggestions for hot and cold drinks? I really struggled with this with DC1 as all I really drink is coffee. I am currently drinking decaf tea and sparkling water but cant see this lasting another 8 months.

What do you drink of an evening? Are there good teas to try?

You could still have coffee - one mug is fine. I drink tea (usually 4 mugs a day) as I got put off of coffee - but if I hadn’t I would have my daily cup definitely

Well I am drinking decaff coffee. Its just lack of variety thats bothering me already. Especially of an evening when DH is drinking wine or something.

Maybe get some cordials like the bottle green elderflower one for the sparkling water, there are some lovely flavours out there.

My favourite teas are mint or liquorice, but with any herbal tea I'd do a quick google to check it's ok although most are.

I remember drinking lots of hot vimto squash and orange juice. Also ice lollies, I was quite sick and they were soothing!

Congratulations!

I drink redbush tea, decaf earl grey for hot drinks and tonic water with a bit of lime in the pub (not pg but very sensitive to caffeine so can't drink after midday, even chocolate keeps me awake!)

Inthesky42 · 09/05/2019 09:08

I drink sugar free ginger beer, fruit juices (bought grape juice and like to put it in a wineglass and pretend it's wine!), herbal teas, decaff coffee

Teddybear45 · 09/05/2019 09:10

Caffienated coffee might help you take the edge off and be more satisfying. Indian chai is good too if you like spiced teas.

Another good option for cold drinks is non-alcoholic wines / mocktails. There’s this amazing non alc spirit called seedlip that tastes like gin.

My mum made me a fennel tea at the weekend and it was lovely (I've gone off normal decaf tea and coffee), so I bought a box of those yesterday. I also got some Kopparberg alcohol-free fruit cider to have while DH is drinking. I've heard sainsburys do a good alcohol-free prosecco, but I haven't tried that yet.

I'm currently addicted to Bovril! Trying my best to drink lots of water but all I seem to crave is sugar free fizzy drinks 😩 also I've bought some alcohol free beers which are handy to have with my OH is having a real bev

Eisberg for the non alc wine

firstimemamma · 09/05/2019 09:18

Hot drinks - do you like hot chocolate every so often if you're getting fed up with decaff coffee?

Cold drink ideas:

  • I liked alcohol-free rose but can't remember which shop it was from, sorry! Maybe Sainsbury's?
-alcohol-free koppaberg

Good luck!

I hated all the non alcoholic wines/ciders (I think it was just my first trimester taste buds though!).
I ended up buying really yummy hot chocolates and seemed to drink a lot of apple juice. There was also a light pink watermelon flavoured J20 in a big bottle. It made me feel like I was drinking something fancy 😂

Starrynights86 · 09/05/2019 09:32

Tried non-alcoholic wine and it was bleurghhh! I’ve been drinking a lot of tea, decaf, peppermint and a nice strawberry plum one, sparkling water and buying cordials to add sparkling water too. I miss wine very much.

Iwannasnack · 09/05/2019 09:37

I drank a fair bit of sparkling water. Or tonic with a slice of lime (that I pretended had gin in too!).
Agree drinking out of wine glasses makes it feel a bit more grown up.

MsSquiz · 09/05/2019 09:46

I'm currently living on sparkling water due to horrendous morning sickness, but last week my variations were:
Fizzy water and squash
Fizzy water and fancy cordials
Apple juice
Appletiser
Ginger and lemon tea with honey
Pineapple juice
Orange lucozade (fizzy)

I also made lucozade sport ice lollies as I can't drink the non fizzy lucozade, but the lollies have helped with sickness

I've also had a few soleros, callippos & ice pops

LittleKitty1985 · 09/05/2019 09:50

Fresh mint tea with honey is what got me through my pregnancy

Rubberyduck · 09/05/2019 11:36

Brilliant thank you. I didnt think I could have tonice water. Off to google...

I drank loads of ginger tea and hot chocolate when I was pregnant. For cold drinks I drank a lot of Appletiser and at Christmas when everyone else was drinking, I bought some Franklin and Sons apple and rhubarb sparkling juice which was lovely.

Belvoir ginger cordial
Squash with fizzy water
Ovaltine (occasionally as full of sugar)
Milk

Went off coffee and tea for ages.

bobble53 · 09/05/2019 18:47

If you miss alcohol, I have monin syrups and add them to lemonade. It’s like a flavoured gin and lemonade in my eyes!

MummyBearBoo · 17/05/2019 23:43

Second alcohol free koppaberg pear one is nice, I've been making virgn mojitos got the recipe from bbc they're really refreshing and DH likes them too - is just crushed ice, fresh mint, brown sugar, apple juice, lemonade and a lime!! I have limes in anyway for sparkling water and really enjoying lemonade and pineapple juice so have that in too!! Xx
