Spotting around when period is due...almost 8 weeks

Not a good morning for me, as I just saw some spotting when I wiped. Basically looks like some brown mixed w CM. Praying that will be it. I am almost 8 weeks, and at 6 weeks had scan and saw strong heart beat. Now would be around the time my period is due. Can this happen? That you spot around your period? Never happened w my first two pregnancies. Now I’m worried...

Yep it can happen. Midwife said to me as long as its not heavy bleeding and cramping I shouldn't worry too much!

My GP told me to expect this. He said spotting is more common around when your period would have been due. And that spotting that clears up and doesn’t develop into a full period style flow has zero bearing either way on your chances of miscarrying, it’s just not a factor! If you’re worried see your doctor but spotting is a really normal part of pregnancy and it doesn’t sound concerning or like you’re bleeding so to speak!

Thanks for the responses. It hasn’t progressed really and nothing on underwear so I think it’s okay. I guess it’s the fear that any spotting could progress! Will try not to think about it.

You need to keep an eye on it - texture, colour and quantity. Mw told me to contact her every single time I get any red coloured spotting or if it gets worse.

I had this at 8, 12 and 16 weeks. Now 21 weeks and all is well. 😊

Teddybear45 yes, keeping an eye. It was really only in morning once and the was it, mixed w cervial mucus when I wiped, nothing more. I keep going to the toilet to check. If it gets red, will contact the GP or midwife...still have not had booking in appt. Had a private scan at 6 weeks.

Justanother123 do you know why you had this? Did midwife or doc say? I know it sometimes can just happen. Just wish it didn't!! Do not like worrying :(

Just said that around the cervix is very vascular in pregnancy and any irritation can make it bleed. It’s so common. I’ve had it in all 3 of my pregnancies.

GoodPlaceJanet · 09/05/2019 14:45

I had this with my second DC. Had an early scan, no apparent reason for the bleed and he's now a healthy very loud 3 year old.

How are you feeling? Are you very sickly? Sickness is a good sign I always think. It means hormone levels are high. No bleeding is normal so always worth giving GP or midwife a call. Hopefully it's noting to worry about though

Starlight2004 Thankfully for my my pregnancies don’t have many symptoms other then slightly bigger breasts and missing period. And being more hungry. I was lucky to avoid morning sickness with my first two and I’m hoping the same for the third!! So far it’s been okay. Sometimes I feel slightly sick, but barely noticeable (knock wood!). This time around I’m feeling very hungry. I gained 23 kgs w both pregnancies and I’m sure it will be the same with this one as I get extremely hungry. Luckily all the weight comes off within the year after giving birth. But not sure why I get extreme hunger (even feel hungry after eating!). So far no more spotting today so hopefully that was it. I keep checking when I go to toilet. And will probably keep checking etc loads the next few days!
