Bleeding at 39 weeks

Warning this post may be a little TMI

Currently 39+5 FTM got up to pee in the early hours (for the hundredth time). So used to checking when I wipe now, noticed that the tissue was stained pink. Checked the toilet bowl which was also showing a pink tinge. Stumbled back to the bedroom to find a pad and had a little more leak out, definite vaginal bleeding but not red or a lot.

I rang the antenatal ward as I was worried about the bleeding, I lost my mucus plug over a few days about a week ago so wasn’t sure if this would count as my bloody show or not - no discharge or mucusy bits with it, it’s purely pink blood when I wipe.

Midwife on antenatal ward advised to keep an eye on baby’s movements (all normal) and call back if it gets worse or I start bleeding as I would on a period. She said this could be the beginning of labour, I’ve supposedly been early labouring for over a week and a half already so don’t want to get my hopes up.

Fast forward 3 hours and I’ve still got bleeding when I wipe, still just a pink colour. Nothing has leaked on to the pad I’m wearing. Having period pains which I’ve had for over a week already. Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t want to phone back when nothing has changed or got worse, but I’m just a bit concerned that I am still bleeding, even if it’s only a little. Could this be my show? I was half asleep when I spoke to the midwife so can’t remember if she said it could be my show or not!

Sorry for the long post!

Go in and get checked out. I’m sure it will be fine, but better safe than sorry. This happened to me, I ignored it and I ended up having an EC, all fine in the end, but I should have gone in earlier.

Sounds like today is the day, go to the hospital and get reassurance (make a note of the time you changed the pad). Take your hospital bags but likely they will send you home for a bit

Thank you both for your responses. I rang again to let them know I’m still having a little blood when I wipe but they gave me the same advice as earlier as nothing has changed and I’m not losing any blood other than when I wipe. They said to stay at home and monitor it and make sure baby’s movements follow the usual pattern. I’m not concerned about baby at all, but it’s so hard to know what to do! I always thought my waters would break in a big gush so I’d know to go to the hospital, if only!! I don’t want to keep bugging them but I can’t help but worry a little.
