Hello all,

I am 38+4 and came into ABC maternity as had no movement at all today. As soon as they hooked me up baby came alive and got the hiccups and fidgets. Heart rate was fine.
This has been my third episode of reduced movement, so the consultant has offered me an induction at 39 weeks and a membrame sweep tomorrow.
He said as i am low risk, there is very little chance anything is wrong, but because at 39 weeks there is no positive to keeping baby in, she is better off out than in. He also can't give a guarantee there is nothing is wrong as low risk as it is.
It has really floored me, as i wasn't expecting it and i don't know what to do.
Can anyone offer any adcvice
I know inductions aren't supposed to be very nice, but is this something I should suck up for her safety?
Thanks.

I haven't gone through an induction but some friends have. They can take a while to work so if there is any concern for baby, I'd be inclined to go for it, even though - as you say - they can be tough. The midwife from my antenatal class emphasised that if we end up being induced, we should consider epidural early as it'll be worth it. Hope you get to meet your healthy baby soon Thanks

Do it - isn’t worth the risk - I was induced 37&6 & it was an amazing experience so don’t be put off by it & the horror stories. Also was because of reduced movement. Feel free to message if you want any info
