If you have the combined Nuchal translucency scan and blood test with the NHS?

No, that won’t tell you the sex. The private blood testing options will, though.

SoHotADragonRetired · 07/05/2019 16:16

No, only if you pay for the NIPT privately. The NHS blood test is not a genetic test.

Oh right, a few people told me I couldn't. Does say this on NHS website though, may as well ask when I'm there but if not it's fine, I don't mind waiting!

That's only if you have fetal dna testing.

This is an additional test that would only be given on the NHS if the results of the other tests indicated it might be necessary, and it's very much trust dependant.

Most people will part privately for it. It's not cheap

I suspect that is aluding to the fact that some parents pay for NIPT privately OP

The point of NIPT is to discover genetic disorders and finding out the sex comes as a bobus of paying for the NIPT test

Darkstar4855 · 07/05/2019 16:40

If your results come back as high risk for Downs some NHS trusts will offer you NIPT. They won’t be able to tell the sex fromthe standard NHS tests.

Ah right! Yes that makes total sense now. Thanks everyone x

If you just have combined test, definitely not.

Harmony test would tell you from 10 weeks. It was a nice bonus to finding out that baby was looking well.
