Hi, a couple of years ago I had an abnormal smear which led to me having to have a large part of my cervix removed by LLETZ. Now I'm currently 15 weeks pregnant and I have my first consultant appointment in a few weeks and I have no idea what to expect
Anyone else give me some insight please Smilethanks x

@kgeal3 sorry I meant 31mm WASN'T a great length for 15 weeks!

I had this procedure about 5 years ago. I mentioned it to my midwife at the booking in appointment (I think at 8 weeks) and I had a consultant appointment at almost 13 weeks. She did an internal scan to measure the cervix which was fine- I found a smear test more uncomfortable! She also then did a tummy scan so I could see baby :)

I have since had another one at almost 15 weeks, (the lovely consultant printed out some pictures of baby too!)

I am due another at around 18 weeks, and then if it is all still fine (no shortening, or opening when pressed) I will have another one after 24 weeks.

@withsexypantsandasausagedog sounds like you had a much nicer consultant than I did!! The photos I've got from mine don't even resemble a baby! What were your measurements at 13 and 15 weeks?

Hi everyone,

Had another scan today with my consultant who was a bit more chirpy this time, either that or we've just got used to him! Had abdominal and transvaginal scan this time and measured 34mm which I was very pleased with! He spent a good 5 minutes trying to figure out the sex which was nice of him but he didn't make a decision with way but thought it might be a boy! I'm booked in for my 20 week in 2 weeks where they will check again then booked again for 23 weeks. Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hi all, I have my consultant appointment this Friday. What did you all wear for yours? Just wondering if it's an internal or external examination so I can try and wear something appropriate and easy xx

@Holiday16 it will be an internal exam but it doesn't matter what you wear as they put a screen round you and give you a white sheet so you just take off whatever you've got on the bottom and put the sheet over you. Good luck, it's not at all uncomfortable or painful at all.

Hi @Holiday16

Just wanted to add to this - I had my cervix examination 2 weeks ago (I was 20+1 then).
This was due to lletz last July, I had CIN3 cells removed.

I was dreading it, but it was really straight forward, much more comfortable then a smear and only took a few mins.
I wore a long top/ tunic thing - so I just had to take my leggings off, they gave me a sheet to cover up as well.

A healthy range is 25-40, and mine was 42 (mm? I presume, don't know!!) . So no further action needed!

I was pretty worried as it was only last July.

Good luck tomorrow, don't worry - it will be completely fine. They'll also scan your tummy so you can see your baby afterwards.

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone is following this thread that can give me any advice or reassurance!!

I found out last Thursday that my cervix had shortened from 34mm at 23+2 to 8mm at 29+2 with a V shaped funnel which is 8mm wide x 12mm length then I've got 8mm from where the funnelling ends to the external OS. I do not have a cerclage.

I've been put on bedrest and daily vaginal pessaries, going back for another scan at 32+2.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with a cervix as short as mine that can offer any advice?!
