Choroid Plexus Cysts And Talipes in one foot

Hi all,

I went for a scan at 17 weeks (doing private so chose to have scans every 3 weeks as I am the panicky type) and everything was fine with the baby (measurements etc) apart from one of her feet as the Dr suspected she could have talipes.
My fiancée’s granny had it so we were not very worried as this tends to run in families.

Went to the 20 week scan yesterday and all baby measurements came back fine (measuring even ahead of expected, no clenched hands, very active baby) no other physical issues apart from Talipes being confirmed in one Foot, however, Dr also found a CPC on the baby’s brain 😢

Anybody with a similar story? I am going back next week for a follow up scan and then possible amnio but I am quite worried right now. Dr didn’t even mention the possibility of Edwards but I decided to Google about it when I came home and found loads of information (not sure that was a good idea...).

I'm sorry to hear you've had a worrying scan. I don't have any experience of choroid plexus cysts or talipes. But I did have something else come up on the 20 week scan. Had extra tests and turned out to be nothing to worry about. My only advice is to distract yourself as much as possible and limit Google to once a day. It's likely to be nothing to worry about, but that won't help calm you. Flowers for you until you get more test results.

Don't panic - they are quite regularly just a normal part of foetal development and will likely disappear before baby is born.

Do you think the extra scans might be causing more stress than they're helping?

Sometimes extra tests can cause problems rather than fix them
I know loads of people who’ve had various markers or defects suspected and then all has been fine. Ask your drs their opinion and then leave the scans alone - there’s a reason only 2 are recommended.

My DD had talipes and after physio etc. you’d never know.

Completely agree with PP. I had to have extra scans as a precaution and they would always find something that always turned out to be fine! I would try and reduce the amount of scans you’re having.

My baby had CPC's in his brain at the 20 week scan. It was the only soft marker but I left the scan in tears because they mentioned a couple of syndromes it can be associated with.

We decided to have harmony testing done to see the likelihood of him having a syndrome and it all case back as low probability (expensive test but meant we could relax a bit for the next few months).

When they rescanned at 26 weeks the CPC's were gone and the consultant told me they're usually just part of baby's development.

My baby is now 3 weeks old and perfect so hopefully you have a similar experience x

Thank you! I do think the extras scans are actually making me panic more than reassuring me. The other thing that Dr said is that as I don’t have much fat on my belly my scans are super visible so in other circumstances maybe she wouldn’t even had seen the foot or cpc. I will keep away from google until next Thursday, really needed to head some kind words so thanks again ❤️

@ClariD how did you get on since? Hope all is well x

ClariD · 29/05/2019 18:16

@mrsk2& thanks for the message! Full amnio results just came back last week and everything is fine Smile going for a regular scan tomorrow and we will just be monitoring the talipes and then get a treatment plan once she’s born
