6+2 severe stomach pain

Hi all I'm 6+2 but the last two days I've had severe pains at the right hand side to the point where it's making me feel sick the pain is right round to my back too. It feels like really bad trapped wind but I'm not sure - I have been having heartburn / indigestion so I'm not sure if that's what it is? Can anyone help?

I had the most painful trapped wind when I was pregnant, the only think that I found that eased it (and I tried everything!) was sitting cross legged the floor/bed and rocking back and forth.

Good luck and I hope it eases of for you!

I had this when I was pregnant! I was further on than you (about 16 weeks I think?) but had awful stomach pains on my right side, so bad that I couldn't stand up straight. I went to the doctors and she told me it was likely bowel cramps. Mine passed about a day or so after that. Worth visiting your GP just to see what's going on though. Feel better soon!

Unless you’ve already been scanned and had an intrauterine pregnancy confirmed you absolutely MUST seek urgent medical attention. This could be an ectopic, which is life threatening.

Severe pain on one side in early pregnancy should ALWAYS be checked out asap, and I say that as someone who had an ectopic pregnancy. My SIL also had one which ruptured. Please go to your EPU/A&E xx

Hi everyone thank you for your replies I called the EPU and because I didn't have a pain in my shoulder they were not concerned I have a scan booked at EPU on Wednesday but I'm lying awake with the pain so I've booked an early scan at a private place for later today x

I’m glad you’ve booked that scan.

I’m sorry that you got that response from EPU, shoulder tip pain is triggered by blood in the peritoneal cavity irritating the diaphragm and the irritation is signalled by the phrenic nerve, but you won’t always get it, because there won’t always be bleeding internal bleeding yet. Where I work gynae would accept any referral for a woman in early pregnancy with unilateral abdominal pain, you don’t need the full set of raging red flags to see and assess someone.

I would suggest if you feel at all unwell, faint, worsening pain, bleeding or other significantly or rapidly worsening symptoms before your scan that you do not delay in calling 999.

Thank you for your reply that's really helpful I Info, I've been lying awake since 3am cannot get comfortable at all. I've taken some paracetamol now and I'm drinking plenty water I'll keep an eye on it and see how everything goes x

So I had an early scan today but it was classed as inconclusive due to only the yolk sac being seen, the sonographer had my dates at only 4 weeks but my LMP was 20th March trying not to get too upset and at least ectopic has been ruled out but something must be wrong if I'm two weeks behind ? I hade attached a pic the measurement I was told was 9.7mm

@glitterbomb13 don't panic too much, I've heard that because 6 weeks is so early still it can be hard to see anything. Another week or so and hopefully they should start to see something more! Good luck!

QueenOfPain · 04/05/2019 16:36

What’s your plan now? Are you going to wait for an NHS scan? Or go for another private?

All hope is not lost, there’s so many variables, like if you’ve ovulated a bit later if the MC messed your cycle up a bit, etc.

glitterbomb13 · 04/05/2019 16:45

I've to go to the EPU for an NHS scan on Wednesday, it's been 2yrs since I had MC and recently I've lost 4.5 stone so my cycles were clockwork 28 days. Just trying to keep optimistic but it's easier said than done x

Gosh, so sorry. Got yours mixed up with another post I’d commented on. EPU with probably do blood HCG’s for a few days to see what’s what.

glitterbomb13 · 04/05/2019 20:01

Aww don't worry at all, oh that sounds good then at least I would know if there was progression or not? Oh wouldn't it be good if we had a window to the womb or a crystal ball 😂

I'm glad you got checked out. Just wanted to highlight for anyone else that might look at this thread that you don't always get shoulder tip pain with an ectopic. I didn't, and I also was reassured my pregnancy wasn't ectopic due to my hcg levels. They were wrong. My SIL also had no shoulder tip pain with her ectopic which ruptured.

Hope you see some progression on your next scan glitterbomb13. My next viability scan is on Thursday, it's a stressful time.
