Belly suddenly soft

I'm 38 weeks pregnant with dc2 and today my bump has suddenly gone soft at the top. Does this mean baby has dropped? I was told she was engaged last week so does this mean she's about to arrive?

I’m 38 weeks with DC2 as well, baby is engaged and low into the pelvis. My bump at the top is soft too. Unfortunately subsequent babies are more likely to Bob in and out of the pelvis as the muscles aren’t as tight to hold them in place.

It doesn’t really indicate imminent labour or not.

Ah ok thanks! I'll wait and see what happens then. Good to know it is a sign that baby has dropped though. My last dc came at 29 weeks though so I never got a big bump so some of the rules apply to me as a second time mum but others don't; it's really hard to tell!

Yes baby will be moving down but it's not an indication of imminent labour. I felt like I had a watermelon in my pelvis for well over a month!
