Has everyone completely cut out baths?

Ok so I can handle not drinking alcohol and caffeine and all the other restrictions but I’m really missing a soak.
I know it says it’s ok as long as the water isn’t too hot but I’m worried I’m not sure how hot is too hot and I just keep end up shivering in luke warm water

Your skin doesn’t absorb dangerous things from skincare. Otherwise drug addicts would just rub cocaine over themselves.

Honestly, put google down!! Just follow NHS guidelines, relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Hot baths and all.

I have warm baths now, before they were hot hot hot and I loved them. However what i am going to miss is the hot tub that has been delivered today! We ordered it before I found out I was pregnant and thought I might get at least one go in it before I dropped on.. wouldn't have it any other way though!

No way! Warm baths relax me and are fine

Cosmogirl86 · 01/05/2019 20:16

NHS guidance is to avoid soaking in water which is too hot! And as previously said by others, the recommended temperature for bathing in pregnancy is crap

Do people really buy bath thermometers for babies? I just stick my hand in and make sure it’s not too hot!

Karigan195 · 01/05/2019 20:19

Avoiding overheating does not mean you have to cut out baths entirely. I made it too hot once and felt awful but have kept the temp a bit lower since but still nice and warm.

I generally have the window open and a cold drink which seems to compensate for the heat as well but that’s just my preference

I looked into this last pregnancy - a bath cools down so it's hard to overheat in them unless really scalding when you get in. The problem with hot tubs is they keep reheating so after a while it's more likely to overheat you.
Enjoy your baths!

I had one bath towards the end and I honestly thought I'd never get out! I had to be hauled out by dp. That was the last one for a while Grin

I’ve been having baths most nights😁 not as hot as I used to have them where I use to go red & lightheaded. But warm enough that I sit in it until I fall asleep and wake when the waters cold 😂🤭 it’s nice at the moment as I’m nearly 20 weeks and the ligament pains have crept in xxx

AuntieMaggie · 01/05/2019 20:28

Ha ha no not til I'm too big to get out myself - I always thought it was the midwives having a laugh telling you to have a bath in early labour imaging you trying to get out!

RChick · 01/05/2019 20:40

I am 35 weeks and the baths are the only time i am completely pain free. I justify the temperature because 50% of my core doesn't fit under the water now anyway!
