B shaped bump/ muffin top

I didn’t know it was a thing until yesterday but i definitely have a B shaped bump. Unfortunately i put on 1.5 stone during fertility treatment, a miscarriage and basically eating my body weight in chocolate (was a size 12)

I’m now rather self conscious about my shape and this has been made more apparent picking maternity clothes. I’m 15 weeks tomorrow and definitely think today is my last day of normal jeans, it feels like they are cutting off my vital organs.

Originally I thought it was bloating as I suffer with Ibs and this has been worse recently but now thinking it’s just my shape and the fact I was overweight when I got pregnant.

I want a lovely D shaped bump where I can wear bodycon dresses and feel confident

Any tips, thoughts etc

I was size 20 big b bump. Before pregnancy. I bloat alot due to IBS and colitis. I'm now 18+5 defo starting to round into a D bump. I brought maternity Jean's and live in leggings. Leggings I get from yours clothing. And just wear whatever lose getting shirts or dresses. Dresses style usually skater

Of you have a B Bump you need to make the most of it, not try and change it to a D bump lol. Try looser high waisted maternity trousers (dark) with a lighter top tucked in. That might give you the illusion of a smoother bump.

Alternatively looser smock type dresses might look nicer than clingy ones.

I had a B bump which became a D bump with all three of my pregnancies. Everybody describes my late 3rd trimester bumps as "neat and tidy" or "all bump" but in the first and second trimesters I just look pudgy. I'm apple shaped anyway. I find that the right clothes help a lot. I love the big maternity knickers and thick waist bands on trousers or jeans, with a looser top over and a bulky scarf, then tighter tops as I become more pregnant looking. I get about 6 weeks of looking glow-y and D-shaped.

I had this too but at 37 weeks it’s smoothed out a lot more.

Big high waisted maternity pants are the best for rounding out the bump and giving it a nice shape !

I had a really pronounced B shaped bump all the way through. I just lived in trousers and baggy t shirts

I’ve bought some over bump jeans from mamalicious.

Sounds like I also need some giant pants!

At the moment not everyone knows I’m pregnant. I’m telling people as needed. I do however think I look fat rather than pregnant. Changing to maternity clothes will i think help.

I had an odd shape bump to begin with, DH said it looked like a turkey 😂. It did fill out as I got bigger

I didn't know this was a thing! I was googling this morning as I have a B shape too and thought I had doomed myself by over eating-- in first trimester and not working on my gunt before I got pregnant 😳 So happy to hear there is hope for it smoothing out! I have bought some maternity leggings from M&S which I think help. I'm also living in loose dresses at the moment as only a couple of friends know. I'm too scared to tell more people due to previous losses so want to hide it as best I can for a few more weeks. I too just look pudgy at the moment well pudgier than usual anyway--

russiandwarf · 01/05/2019 19:35

😂 all of my post wasn't supposed to be crossed out! Oops! 😳

AuntieMaggie · 01/05/2019 19:42

Yep me too - 16 weeks here and often the top is bigger than the bottom but I think the position is pushing everything up as the bottom has barely grown 😂

SurreyisSunny · 01/05/2019 19:51

@SheSaidNoFuckThat a turkey?!

@AuntMaggie yes also feel I’m being pushed up. My underwired bras are definitely becoming uncomfortable.

@russiandwarf yes also didn’t know was a thing. Thought it was me and too much chocolate!

@SurreyisSunny the wobbly bit under their beak 🤦🏻‍♀️😂. Words are failing me today, I do apologise

AuntieMaggie · 01/05/2019 20:32

I had two days last week where I literally felt like I was going to pop I was so bloated - drank loads of water and it seems to have gone down thank goodness!

ShabbyAbby · 02/05/2019 08:46

Yes to the big pants! The bigger the better! Also layered tops are great, so a long vest with a maternity top or jumper over will give you a seamless bump. I think most D bumps are actually just well dressed bumps.

Dyra · 02/05/2019 10:55

Another B bump here as well at 19 weeks. People keep rubbing the top portion (the bigger bump) keep having to remind them baby is in the lower bit!
