Went for 35 week scan and consultant to discuss mother of delivery after my previous was awkward, I had a boy first time round. And as she was taking she was saying baby's weight will be same as my first and was referring to baby as his she kept swapping between baby and his, just wondering wether they know as my routine midwife said it's not known thing that needs to be recorded

Someone help !

Your consultant won’t know.

@Loudloopy no they won't know. Sonographers don't write it in their report as it's not clinically relevant, so unless your consultant watches during the scan then they won't know. A lot of professionals use 'he' for the baby because 'she' is the mum, can make things less confusing.

Consultant won’t care either lol

I know.this is a bit morbid but as I also want the sex a surprise Im concerned- does this mean if you miscarry they'll not know what it was? :(

This has literally never occurred to me!! I guess they wouldn’t, when we told our Sonographer we didn’t want to know they said they wouldn’t check, and they obviously didn’t write it in the report.

But after 12 weeks you’re unlikely to miscarry anyway, and .... this is super morbid... but if you did after this stage I assume you would need to pass it and could find out the sex then.

But that’s a horrible thought!
