Induction for big baby

I was with the midwife this morning and she said she's going to discuss care plan with the doctor re baby measuring big. (My last baby was also big). She talked about possible induction, just wondering how many weeks they usually do induction for big babies?

My induction was booked in at 41+5, although I went into labour and delivered him two days before this. He was born at 9.5lb, so big! But not off the charts big.

I had a 10lb baby at 42 weeks last time, this one also looks big and current plan is for induction at 40-41 weeks, or sooner if it goes off the charts at the next scan.

They started my inductions for my 10lber at 39 weeks. There were further concerns though.

I was induced with what turned out to be a ten-pounder at 38 weeks.

My daughter was told yesterday at growth scan (40 weeks exactly) that baby was about 9 and half pounds, so she had to wait to see a doctor.

Doctor offered her a sweep before considering induction at 41 weeks and she agreed. Unfortunately, doctor accidentally broke her waters whilst doing it, and she had to go back at 3.30 today to be induced (because no signs of labour overnight).

Just waiting to see how accurate their measurements are, as she was induced at 42 weeks with last baby who was supposed to be around 9lb 120z, and he turned out to be 8lb 90z.

Have a look at this link from the NICE guidelines. It states that in absence of a medical concern induction should not be routinely offered for a suspected big baby.

I'm 38 weeks today, had my final growth scan yesterday. Consultant wanted me to be induced as soon as today. I agreed to book a bed at 38+6 which the consultant wasn't happy about, we really had to push to have it agreed for then. She's measuring as 8lbs but I'm quite petite. Wasn't expecting them to want me to go so soon or to have such a problem when we said we wanted to wait a little. I'd assumed they'd want me to get to at least 39 weeks.
