Pregnant straight after miscarriage!!!!!

Hi ladies hope your all well....
So I had a 'chemical pregnancy' (hate that term) early miscarriage at 5 weeks, the bleeding started 30/03 bled for 5 days took a test and got a negative which confirmed my hcg levels had dropped back to normal!

I didn't think I'd even ovulate this cycle but we DTD every other day and carried on as normal, I had no idea when af would arrive but I started noticing pregnancy symptoms such as feeling dizzy, being so hungry, exhausted, so emotional and sorry tmi but really sore nipples!! The last couple of days I had cramps on and off so just assumed af was on her way!!
Did a test this afternoon because I just knew and there is was, a BFP!! Smile
Has anyone else got pregnant after a miscarriage without a period?
Thanks in advance xxxx

Three of my circle have had successful pregnancies straight after miscarriages. One had made it to 9w when she lost hers (so had a lot more hormone to ‘drop’, so to speak).

There has been a study that I read about (but didn’t actually read, so speculative) that suggested that your body goes into some sort of protective overdrive and that pregnancies in the first months after loss are more successful statistically! Not science, of course, but definitely worthy of mention.

Congratulations, here’s to a safe and healthy pregnancy xxx

Millsss · 01/05/2019 14:57

Thanks for your reply sessy!! So lovely to hear 3 of your friends have had successful pregnancies after such a horrible thing to go through!

Yeah I've read something about your body going into over protective mode! I must admit I do feel 'more pregnancy' at this stage than I did last time which is a good thing i guess!

Im jus hoping when I call my doctor tomorrow to let him know he will give me some reassurance, I remember him saying he will push for me to get an early scan just to put my mind at ease although a scan won't show a lot so early I just trying to stay calm as every pregnancy is different!

Thank you so much I feel excited but also realistic it's such a weird feeling!! Xxx

I'm currently nearly 6 weeks pregnant after having 3 chemicals in a row. None of my chemicals made it past AF due date so I'm guessing this is a sticky bean. I did notice with my chemicals I had super early symptoms all at once, the sickness, sore boobs, back ache etc before AF was due, whereas with this sticky bean it was a slow build up of symptoms. I'm having an early scan next Friday in my EPU as my doctor referred me after my previous losses. Fingers crossed for us both... Oh & yes this sticky was conceived straight after my last chemical, apparently the month after a chemical you are super fertile

TheWashingMachine · 01/05/2019 15:37

I had a ruptured ectopic, full blood transfusion, lost a tie and half an ovary, got pregnant five weeks later, my DS is now 8

alwaysthepessimist · 01/05/2019 15:44

I fell pregnant accidentally at 40 (doc had told me I was in the menopause so had stopped all contraception), week after I found out I miscarried the baby (August), had the bleed after that and lots of tests to ensure hormones back to normal, didn't have another period though (not unusual) early october felt odd so took a test & was pregnant again, had dd when I was 48, DD is about to turn 7.

I was refused an early scan as they said all it does is show all ok now but I would still have worried so it wasn't worth it - I held off - have to say despite all reassurances I worried up until I felt her start moving - it was only then I started to feel excited.

Good luck!

alwaysthepessimist · 01/05/2019 15:45

BTW I had her when I was 41 NOT 48!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

downcasteyes · 01/05/2019 15:47

I went with my friend to the hospital after a miscarriage (hand holding), and the nurses said this was quite common and said that if she didn't want to get PG again immediately she should use birth control. Apparently you are super fertile just after.

downcasteyes · 01/05/2019 15:47

Wow, all the acronyms are being automatically expanded...

TerriB1984 · 01/05/2019 18:34

Yep I’m currently 27 weeks in circumstances very similar to yours. Loss at 5 weeks, bleeding finished within a week and a negative test to show levels had returned to normal. Only difference I used an OPK as I was expecting things to be a bit out of whack from normal.

Mrsgtobe · 01/05/2019 19:17

Yep! Congratulations to you. I had a misc 18th August, dtd for the first and only time 28th August and I'm 37 weeks pregnant today! I bled 3 times in this pregnancy but every time baby was fine. I like to think this baby was just determined to be ours. Xxx

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 01/05/2019 19:35

I know lots of women who have done it and been ok however my experience was that after two miscarriages in a row I fell pregnant straight away for a 3rd time And ended up with a ruptured ectopic as the miscarriages had caused a build up of toxic fluid in my tube and blocked it - that being said I had a 4 th miscarriage yesterday and had scan today - no fluid seen in remaining tube so I'm going to start ttc again straight away x

Millsss · 01/05/2019 19:36

Omg thank you so much ladies!! Would take me ages to reply separately to you all but this has really reassured me!

I don't want to spend everyday worrying I want to enjoy every minute as every pregnancy is different!
I do feel alot different this time around with symptoms slowly happening rather than all at once! Am going to test again on Friday just to see if the line is getting darker!!!!

Health and happiness to you all! Xxx

I miscarried at 12 weeks back in April 2018. It took five weeks for me to get negative pregnancy tests, and just two weeks after that I conceived again.

My daughter is now a happy, healthy seven week old Smile Good luck! I understand your fear, but this is a totally new pregnancy, so there’s no reason why it won’t be successful Smile

Millsss · 01/05/2019 20:24

Oh I'm so sorry for your loss colbaltrose but lovely to hear about your daughter! :)

I told my partner today and he doesn't want to believe it yet which I understand I felt weird when I got my BFP but I keep saying it's a new pregnancy I don't want to spend every day worrying and driving myself crazy!
Xx

Oh my @Millsss - I could have written this post myself! I MC at 5+4 last cycle and am now pg again. I'm somewhere between 5+5 and 6+1. Very nervous, but like you, I want to find some enjoyment in all of this. Before my MC last cycle I had a MMC, found out at the 12 week scan that the HB has stopped at 10+1. Devastated. On the basis that I don't want to wait to long to find out if all is going wrong I will be getting an early scan, midwife has booked me in for next Tuesday. Sending you positive vibes x

hipstercat · 01/05/2019 22:40

My first bfp ended in miscarriage at just under 5 weeks, and I then fell pregnant again in the next cycle. I had absolutely no faith it would stick but I'm now 27 weeks! It's actually very common from what I have heard. Good luck to you!

Millsss · 02/05/2019 06:39

Hi Amanda firstly so sorry for your losses :( but congrats on your BFP!!!! It's such a weird feeling isn't it, I watched a video on YouTube about a lady that sadly had 4 miscarriages and after the last one she fell pregnant and said whether she worries or enjoys every minute it will not change the outcome so why choose the worrying, it really struck me and it's so true! It's not fair on you or the baby to be negative all the time so just chose happiness! I'm wishing you all the happiness in the world Hun for your early scan! Come back and keep us updated! Xx

Hi all,

Your post gives me hope! I am currently going through a missed miscarriage after having medical management to pass the empty sac last week.
I really want to start trying again as soon as the bleeding stops! It was our first pregnancy Sad I have been advised its best to wait until your cycle returns but I think that is more so they can work out your due date if we conceive again

X

Millsss · 02/05/2019 19:34

Hi sunnysunshine firstly I am so sorry for your loss :( sending you all my love!!!!!

My miscarriage passed naturally and I stopped bleeding after 5 days! My partner and I allowed ourselves time to be upset whilst I was bleeding and put no pressure on ourselves and just see what happens, I didn't know what was going to happen with this cycle so i was over the moon! :)

I do feel alot different this time which is reasurring!

All I will say to you Hun is allow yourself to grieve it's such a horrible thing to go through but to take something positive you are both fertile and it does get better I promise! Sending you lots of baby dust xxxx

SunnySunshine1990 · 02/05/2019 20:59

Thanks for your reply, we found out on the 9th April that there was only an empty sac and I was 7 weeks at the time, the whole process has taken so long so we are feeling a bit more prepared and positive to try again as we have had a lot of time to take in what is happening. Huge congratulations to you though @Millsss x

Millsss · 03/05/2019 05:09

@sunnysunshine
Wow that seems like such a long time :( but like you've said it has given you time to grieve, I really hope it doesn't go on too much longer for you!

After I got my negative test to confirm my hcg was back to normal the doctor confirmed I was ready to try again and at the 12 week they will go by measurements so it's not he end of the world!
I hope when you stop bleeding you get a sticky little bean! Xx

I've miscarried twins last Tuesday and just done a pregnancy test which came back with the faintest positive line. How long did it take for you girls to get a neg after miscarriage? My bleeding has almost completely stopped just brown spotting really.
I can't wait to try again, we were and still are heartbroken as we wanted them so much but just wasn't meant to be.
Good luck to you all and big hugs! We are heroes to go through this horrible experience!! Smile

SunnySunshine1990 · 16/05/2019 18:11

Oh@Babybloom I'm so sorry to hear that :( Is this your first pregnancy? It truly is the most heartbreaking experience.

I had my medical management on Thursday 25th April, I carried on bleeding red blood until around the Monday 6th May and then it was dark brown blood most mornings and whenever I would go to the loo, it got lighter and only just ended this week Monday 13th May.

I was doing pregnancy strip tests at home all through this and was getting dark lines but gradually began to fade, I only got my first negative test yesterday so almost 3 weeks after my miscarriage.

I started doing the ovulation strip tests again today, just hoping I get a positive line soon! Xx

Babybloom · 16/05/2019 18:13

@SunnySunshine1990 thank you hun, same to you! It's a horrible experience mentally, physically, emotionally but I think of it as it made me stronger and 100% certain that we want to expand the family. It was my first pregnancy and strangely looking back now I knew something wasn't right from the begging. Good luck to you my lovely! It's going to happen! Sending you lots of love!
