Runny eggs

All I seem to want right now is a runny fried egg. As far as I can see, as long as they're red lion stamped, it should be safe, is that right? I'm planning having a fry up for breakfast and it just wouldn't be the same without it.

Yes the red lion eggs are safe, the chickens have been vaccinated. Enjoy your breakfast

You have no idea how happy I am to hear this.. I had my egg 'well done' the other morning, I had no idea about the red lion. I have just checked my happy eggs and they have a red lion. This is the happiest I have been since I got that positive test! Cant wait for a lovely breakfast now. Thanks x

Absolutely safe. I’ve had loads. Even raw... when licking the bowl of uncooked cake mixture!!!

Orchidflower1 · 01/05/2019 09:59

Yep as long as they are stamped you can have a runny yolk. Enjoy !

Yes fine! Lion stamped ones are ok. Made me sooooo happy when the midwife told me the rules had changed. Runny eggs ♥️

Even if not lion stamped I don’t think salmonella even crosses the placenta does it? It’s just more likely to make you feel even more shit than if you got salmonella whilst not pregnant.

Basically, supermarket eggs in the UK are safe to eat as they are red lion stamped.

The ones posing any risk are unstamped eggs, so those available from small producers (back yard hens, farm shops etc). Also eggs of non British origin.

I have a soft boiled egg almost every day! Just make sure you cook it enough so the white is no longer translucent and you are good to go!

No need for this beyond personal taste. Lion stamped eggs are considered safe to consume raw, for example in mayonnaise.
