Feel like I've been kicked in the back at 37 weeks pregnant

I have a pain in my lower back on the left hand side. It's pretty bad. It initially felt like a bruise that hurt more when I moved. It hurts all the time now. I've had it for about an hour and it came on very suddenly. Could this be something kicking off? I've no contractions or anything just some period-type cramping all day. Anyone experience anything similar? With my first the contractions woke me up on her due date and it was all systems go.

I'd speak to your midwife. Could be labour.

Thanks. I'm in Ireland. I might give the emergency pregnancy unit a call. I'm feeling fairly dodgy now.

Could be a kidney infection - I had back ache with mine (not while pregnant I add) but no urinary symptoms so didn’t think to get checked for UTI.

Get your Uti and your vitamin d levels checked. I feel unexplicable pain when my vit d is low.

How are you feeling now? This is how my labour started with my first!

Girliefriendlikescake · 30/04/2019 17:42

Are you peeing okay? Could be your kidney or a uti.

SoHotADragonRetired · 30/04/2019 17:44

It could be labour, an infection, or you extended weird and did your back in. Or the baby is pressing on a nerve. Only time will tell, sorry! But talk to triage especially if you develop any other symptoms.

Pain went today, back this evening. Seeing GP tomorrow as long as nothing drastic happens overnight. Starting to feel like I'm leaking now too so could be UTI.

Hmm leaking could be your waters going! I think you need to see a midwife, can you ring labour ward for advice?

GP is booked for today. Just lost my plug. Think it's time to send my toddler on a holiday to Granny's house, just in case.
