5 weeks and already in maternity jeans

I really haven't been eating more than normal but I'm just so bloated. A friend gave me some maternity jeans and I tried them on this afternoon as my normal jeans were so painful around the tummy and the maternity fit! This is my first pregnancy, anyone else had this?

This was me! Also first pregnancy! It never went down in my case. It's just steadily grown to a more rounded shape and I'm now 19w.

@CatSmize glad I'm not the only one! Grin

Definitely not the only one, I was using hair ties to hold my buttons on my jeans by about then, bought clothes in a bigger size by week 10 and now week 15 have already been maternity clothes shopping, my advice, don’t bother with clothes in a bigger size and just get maternity, they are so much more comfortable! Wish I bought my mat leggings weeks ago! Enjoy your pregnancy x x x

@Daffodil2491 thank you and you too! Xxx

I was the same! Even without bump, everything was so much tighter

Bubblebubble123 · 29/04/2019 20:41

Yes for me too. By week 6 or 7 I was wearing leggings permanently as my jeans were too uncomfortable. It’s just bloating at that stage. Baby bump doesn’t pop up out of pelvic area till roughly 14 weeks I think

Spargle · 30/04/2019 07:04

I went into under-bump jeans at about 6 weeks because anything touching my stomach was just too painful. The bloating was impressive! Don’t think mine ever went down, but the proportions gradually changed until it was mostly baby bump (there’s a certain amount of fat on top, but it’s quite stretched now...).

Well done for making the right decision! Comfort is very important!

SnuggyBuggy · 30/04/2019 07:09

Yes, the bloating was the worst bit at that stage, I deflated after about 12 weeks

EnjoyItAll · 30/04/2019 09:04

I started to struggle with my trousers about 9 weeks but could manage in my jeans until 15 where it became impossible. I wish I had got mine sooner though rather than trying to carry on but I thought my bloating would have gone down but it never did and suddenly it changed shape and became a bump

SnakesBarmitzvah · 30/04/2019 09:20

Its just bloat, I had this as well and went out and bought bigger clothes. Around 11 weeks the bloat went and the new clothes were too big.

I'm now 22 weeks and only just started showing.

Deeny83 · 30/04/2019 09:36

Ok, so happy to see other people experiencing this too ha ha, im only 4 weeks and got my bfp via IVF so i thought it was the meds. Last night i looked about 6 months pregnant!! Sounds like ill just grow into it lol

OhWifey · 30/04/2019 09:42

If it was an IVF pregnancy it might be your ovaries still being very swollen from the stims. Mine were grapefruit sized afterwards. Having said that, in my second pregnancy which was naturally conceived I also had mega bloat

Eliza9919 · 30/04/2019 16:26

I'm 5+3 and I'm googling maternity leggings.

I'm also wondering what people do about bras. These feel like they won't fit me much longer and are getting uncomfortable, but I don't want to just keep buying normal bras in the next size, I want some that will grow with me - all I can find online so far are nursing bras. I imagine comfort bras aren't good support-wise and will be uncomfortable to get on & off.

StrawberryLollypops · 30/04/2019 18:32

Thanks ladies for all your replies. I've often had bloat at various times of the month so I think it's just an extension of that, gets worse after lunch! Pregnancy jeans are the best and I don't mind if people think I'm piling on the pound suddenly! Grin

StillIRise87 · 30/04/2019 19:35

I had this too. I looked ready to give birth by 20 weeks. It didn't go anywhere and I was in maternity clothing by seven weeks.

StillIRise87 · 30/04/2019 19:36

Was a nightmare trying to hide it until 12 weeks. I had to tell work by eight weeks as it was so bloody obvious!

Nofunkingworriesmate · 30/04/2019 19:37

Me too bleated like a blimp

Sleepycat91 · 30/04/2019 19:47

Im 5 weeks tomorrow with second and im fighting my work trousers already, i wear uniform that doesnt offer a maternity option so ive been wearing my oversized fleece to hide ive got my trousers undone. Bloating is making me look bigger than the lady i work with whose 17 weeks pregnant with her 1st!

CatRash · 30/04/2019 20:23

Omg the bloating!!!! I forgot from my first pregnancy how awful the bloody bloating is!! I'm only 4+1 (found out yesterday) but the bloating has wasted no time in rearing its ugly head.

I might as well tell my work colleagues now because I have no doubt they're going to cotton on to it pretty soon as I look 6 months pregnant again!!

MamaDane · 30/04/2019 20:27

Same. Bought maternity pants when I was only 4 weeks pregnant lol. Turns out it's twins as well.

Still bloated at 18 weeks now
