MK is now a teaching hospital and has really tightened up it’s maternity services following the deaths a few years ago. You’ll probably get a better service there if you have complications. However if you can choose further afield then Leicester Royal Infirmary is meant to be amazing

Are you looking at a labour ward or midwife led? I had DD at the Barratt Birth Centre in Northampton last year, had a great experience and found the staff really nice - they've got a Facebook page with pics of the rooms etc.

Personally couldn't fault MK for mine a few years ago.

Where do you live? Which is closest?

Barrett Centre, it's amazing.

I had a water birth at the Barrett birth centre last summer and it was fab. I highly recommend it. As pp have said-check out their Facebook page.

had my LO at the barrett 3 months ago, it was amazing. ended up staying in overnight but was in a bay on my own! honestly was treated like i imagine private to be.

I’ve given birth at MK twice, once in 2015 and once last September. Once spontaneous, one induction. Both uncomplicated deliveries. I had faultless care and wouldn’t hesitate to go there again (except no plans for another!)

No experience of Northampton I’m afraid but I’ve also given birth at Oxford’s JR and I preferred MK.

Mrbumpoid · 29/04/2019 22:33

I’m right in the middle of both hospitals. So far MK have been disjointed and scatty, like there's no organisation. So I am thinking of moving. I've heard great things about Barrat.

I had a complicated birth at Northampton, but can’t fault my care

I had my DD at the Barratt too, an absolutely great experience and added bonus that the labour ward was just downstairs if there were any complications. They have a FB page.

I've been a birthing partner on the labour ward and felt that the level of care was really good.
