No Heartbeat at 6 weeks. Fetal pole measuring 5mm

Has anyone had a scan around 6 weeks with fetal pole measuring 5mm, and not had a heartbeat but gone onto have a successful pregnancy.

We have to now wait a week for a 2nd scan to confirm what has happened.

I know that it's highly unlikely to be good news but we are still clutching at straws as we are desperate for this baby to be ok.

Hi OP I totally understand how anxious and desperate you must be feeling. I didn’t have a positive outcome (but I managed to fall pregnant again within 6 months and it’s been successful) but the heartbeat is just starting to develop at this stage so all is not lost - there is hope. The waiting is awful - keep busy x

I had a scan at 5wks nothing there to see just the sac went back at 7wks & saw the heartbeat,i wouldnt give up hope ,hope it all works out for u x

Hi, I had a scan at 5w+4 and there was a yolk sac and pole. I thought I was 6 weeks, but after I reworked my dates and i was scanned early. I was rescanned 2 weeks later and baby was there, developing as it should. Could you be a few days earlier than 6 weeks? I don’t know measurements I’m afraid. I hope this helps. It’s an awful wait, that seems like an eternity. Xx

So sorry you are going through this OP it is a tough time.

With me it was not a positive outcome when I was measuring 6 weeks but with no heartbeat (should have actually been 10 weeks)

I’ve been in your position!
Went for a scan at 6+2 (I’d seen a heartbeat at this stage with a previous pregnancy)

But they only found a fetal pole measuring 5&4 without a heartbeat.

Went in 10 days later for scan and I measured 7+1 with a heartbeat. Bear in mind by at this point I should be over 8w!

I’ve been booked up for a follow up scan (2 week wait) and it’s KILLING me.

6 days to go......(I’m a recurrent miscarriage sufferer) so who knows what what will happen 🤷‍♀️

I had this experience too. My cycle was controlled by a fertility clinic so I knew exactly when conception occurred. I was 6 weeks and was told it didn’t look good and that a heartbeat should have been visible for a 6 week old embryo. I went back a week later for a scan to confirm the pregnancy was not progressing and there was my baby, heart beat flickering away. She is now 6. A few days can make all the difference at this gestation.
