Hi,

I am 7 weeks pregnant today. All has been ok until today.

Over the last few days I've had more regular bowel movements (like 3 a day). Sometimes they've been loose and sometimes okay.

The last few days I've noticed a bit of orange flecks in my faeces. I'm not worried as I feel that it's probably my multi vitamin or something.

Today, I felt a sharp twinge in my stomach that went as quickly as it came. An hour later I opened my bowels ( third time today) and I saw orange flecks again. However when I wiped after doing a wee I had a brown slimy clot. I wiped again and I had some discharge. And then it was gone.

I rang the midwife who wasn't concerned and told me to rest.

Since then I e had a dull constant twinge in my right lower abdomen. I feel so down and feel defeated. Am I being silly?

I had quite a few twinges from about 7 weeks onwards. I don’t think the changes in your bowel movements are anything to worry about, changes in your diet (or the vitamin) will probably be to blame for this. Is the pain constant or does it come and go?

Comes and goes. I hope it's nothing. My gut says it's ok and I shouldn't be worried. I hope it's right xx

You can get bowel pain on your right side quite low down, so it may just be coming from that

I have had multiple loose bowel movements each day since about 7 weeks, waking up each morning with stomach discomfort. Varies from just loose to proper diarrhoea, and mucusy. I'm now 17 weeks and midwives not concerned. I am so over it though!

Pain that comes and goes is usually ok, or at least that’s what my midwife has told me. Gas pain can feel really bad (I was woken up by it a few times! Felt like being stabbed in the side). Hormones can play havoc with your bowels. It sounds like you’re feeling really anxious, I remember I had all kinds of thoughts flashing through my head early on and 6-10 weeks felt like an age. You can always call your midwife (if you have their details) go to your GP or give your local EPAU a call if you’re worried. They deal with worried mums to be all the time so it won’t be putting them out.
