Hello. I have just found out I am around 3 weeks pregnant. After an early loss in January I am both over the moon and scared to death. Since i found out on Wednesday i have had a dull ache, really low down. I don't know if I am imagining it, if it is normal or if it is a repeat of January. Also, how long are you supposed to leave it before I call the midwife?

Hi @LizzieZara congratulations! I am 4+5 and I haven't booked the 'booking in appointment' yet. I will do that on Monday, I just wanted to get to 5 weeks all okay, I'm not sure how long it'll take to get a booking in appointment but I wanted to let things settle.

Yeah I has an ache for quite a while

It varies area to area. My area will only let you see a midwife at your doctors who will then refer for booking in, after 8 weeks. Some places have a self refer though so Google your area and maternity self referall and you might find something. If not a call to your GP :)

Good luck!

I have called today and the first available appointment was the 23rd May.. so glad I didn't wait much longer. I need to stop googling symptoms and try stay positive! Good luck everyone x

Lizzie im 4weeks 3 days and I've had cramps since i found out, i think its normal?!

FaithEloise · 27/04/2019 06:25

Im 5 weeks and 5 days and i had period type cramps most of this week, i was getting really worried but now they have gone so. Aches and cramps are a normal part of pregnancy i guess. I didnt have any early on with my last 2 pregnancies but every pregnancy is different.

Hi there! Congratulations! I have been where you are (I have 5 kids and have experienced multiple losses), and understand well the worry as do most women here I think.

Cramps are perfectly normal, both because of the hormones and also the stretching which starts very early. You'll also be hyper aware of any sensations because of your experience.
Whenever I've been pregnant I have also had a deep pain from the ovary I have ovulated from, kind of like ongoing ovulation pain, which I was always concerned meant it was ectopic. This was corpus luteum pain which resolved itself after a few weeks.

Good luck. One miscarriage does not make you any more likely to have another and also (apparently, though I have no citation for this), most first pregnancies are lost, many before the woman actually knows. It's like the body has a trial run. I lost my first, but only knew after.

Positive thoughts to you! X

Hey guys just wanted to reassure you all that period like cramps are totally normal, I had them so much and they were exactly like my normal period cramps that I was convinced I was coming on my period, but 9 weeks later and 3 positive pregnancy tests later, I'm defo pregnant lol!
Anyways every area does the midwife thing differently, I rang my drs and they gave me a number to ring and I booked an appointment through the midwife directly, they book it for when your around 8-10 weeks.
Also I highly reccomend staying away from Google! I know this is all new and exciting but trust me Google will do nothing bit make you anxious all the freaking time and u and baby dont need that!

Good luck and congratulations guys!
